Hi, I’m Umut. I’m a French Translation and Interpreting student at Mersin University, in Mersin, Turkey.
However, I want to stand out more with the things I do outside of university. For three summers, I worked as a receptionist at reputable hotels in Muğla — one of Turkey’s top tourism destinations. Thanks to my interest in tourism, I truly enjoy exploring the history and natural beauty of the cities I live in.
I was also involved in theatre for a while and had the chance to play some great roles.
Although I’m not currently active, I have a sports background — I played volleyball for many years, and now I continue to play and follow it as a hobby. Besides volleyball, I’m also a basketball fan and currently work for Çukurova Basketball Club, a EuroLeague team based in Mersin.
I’m an animal lover — I have a cat named Felix. (You can look at my pictures to see him.:)))
Due to my field of study, my personal goals, and my personality, I’m using this platform. I’d like to experience life abroad and meeting new people makes me happy.
Building a strong network and having good communication skills is something I truly value.
Besides Turkish, which is my native language, I speak English and French. Being able to speak these languages, meeting people I can communicate with, and being in international environments makes me genuinely happy.

Turkish is my native language. I’ve known English since childhood and I’m at an advanced level. I started learning French when I entered university four years ago. You could say I’m obsessed with grammar in every language I know. I enjoy learning about the etymology of words. I love translating, and when I teach a language, I prefer helping the learner make sense of it by comparing it with their native language.

I worked as a receptionist for three summers in the tourism sector in Muğla, Turkey. I played volleyball for a long time and was also involved in theatre.
In Mersin, I worked for Çukurova Basketball Club during Turkish league games and EuroLeague matches (especially at the 2024 Final Four).
Apart from that, I have done extra jobs such as waitering, being an entertainer, teaching private English lessons, and working as a freelance translator.
