Hi! We are Toby and Shanti, a couple from New Zealand. We have been married for almost 30 years and have lived in 4 different countries. We are currently traveling the world and are looking for workaway opportunities where we can meet friendly people, learn about new cultures and apply our many skills to assist you with your projects.

Before leaving New Zealand to travel, we were raising our two wonderful children and working as professional computer consultants. We love the outdoors, taking on DIY projects and pretty much anything food related. We have renovated two houses, planted and maintained large veggie gardens, roasted our own coffee and brewed beer in addition to growing and making our own food items like sprouts, yoghurt, bread, etc.

More details about my language interests
Shanti in particular loves learning languages and is interested in teaching English! She is fluent in English but grew up speaking Portuguese (from Brazil) and is always keen to chat in Portuguese. In 2024 we spent 6 months in Mexico where Shanti learnt Spanish and would also love to practice speaking more Spanish.

* DIY – painting, tiling, basic bathroom installation (sink, toilet, shower install etc.) and simple carpentry.
* Gardening - planting, harvesting, pruning, mowing, weeding, watering systems, landscaping.
* Languages – teaching business and general English including conversation, grammar and writing. Shanti has conversational fluency in Portuguese, intermediate level Spanish, beginner level French and beginner level Italian.
* Childcare - babysitting, help with homework, games, arts and crafts.
* Cooking - seafood and vegetarian dishes, baking bread and cakes, etc.
* Computers - repairs, upgrades, internet setup, teaching beginner to advanced computer skills.
* Cleaning - Household cleaning (internal and external), organizing.
* Dog sitting.
* Bicycle repair.
