Description
Hello! I'm Tesni, born nestled between mountains, sea and moss in west Wales. Through travel, writing, work and my way of life, I'm on a journey to unearth more vibrant, relational ways of living with more-than-human communities.
I'm a freelance writer and facilitator, currently working on projects that span social justice, food systems change, sustainable farming and agroecology, the arts and climate change adaptation. Outside of this work I spend a lot of time volunteering at community gardens, and more recently with the Herbalists Without Borders project in my city of Bristol. I've done a foundation course in herbal medicine and have a degree in anthropology. My dream is to set up a land-based project with a few friends in Wales, which brings together forest schools, nature therapy, herbal medicine and food growing. At the moment I'm spending time visiting/volunteering within similar projects to gain skills and connect up with a supportive network.
I've spent the last few years living in my van and travelling around the southwest of the UK whilst working remotely and getting involved in lots of community projects. I've lived in a couple of community settings and have skills in holding space and facilitating meetings. I'm thoughtful, community-orientated yet independent, adaptable, and a clear communicator. I value honesty.
I have travelled alone in Canada, Central America, Spain, and Indonesia. In Canada, I spent 3 months living off-grid on a small island for a research project, during which time I helped hosts with gardening, building, cooking, carving wood, hosting events and selling goods at the local market. I have also volunteered at an off-grid eco village in South Spain, where I began to learn about micro renewable energy systems, growing in desert landscapes, irrigation, and building with bamboo. In Costa Rica, I helped to conduct daily wildlife surveys and a small-scale reforestation programme.

More details about your skills
I'm an experienced researcher, writer and communications coordinator. I have lots of experience writing blogs and articles, interviewing, creating content for social media, producing newsletters, websites, and graphics. I can help with any copywriting, editing, marketing or social media tasks, although I am keen to be more hands-on (as my job is screen-based!).
I have recently done a foundation course in herbal medicine, and have been helping to run medicine-making workshops in my city for vulnerable and marginalised groups - making infused oils, balms, tinctures, tonic vinegars and syrups from foraged herbs. In Bristol volunteer regularly on a land-based project and have taken a couple of gardening courses, so am gaining confidence with gardening/growing veg and herbs.
I also have experience tutoring English, Geography, and Sociology one-to-one, from beginner to university level, aged 8-20. I like to teach and can find creative, engaging ways to plan lessons.
I have a small amount of carpentry and woodwork experience but am very keen to learn more. I'm naturally creative, and aside from writing I like to paint, weave, carve, and craft using recycled materials.
