My next destination:
Malaysia - from Aug 2025 until Oct 2025 View allDescription
Hello! My name is Steve and I recently just finished my Masters studying beetles (the insects). I am now keen to put away my lab coat and microscope and journey around India (and beyond) where I hope to emerse myself in different cultures and spend time with different communities.
I have a passion for protecting wildlife which has meant I have volunteered with several conservation charities in the UK. Another passion of mine is teaching which led me to work in Spain as an English language teaching assistant in a primary school. In different jobs I have also taught children how to rock climb, throw axes and practice archery.
In my free time I like being in the mountains and do several sports such as climbing, hiking and slacklining. There are many activities however I would love to improve at such as surfing, acro yoga and fire spinning.
I like travelling as a way of pushing my comfort zone, appreciate new perspectives and as a way to travel at a slower pace and get to know communities, trying to avoid unethical tourism if possible!
So, if you need an extra pair of hands, please let me know and I look forward to meeting you!Interests

More details about your skills
Some of the skills I have so far developed come from:
-Working as a climbing instructor, so am used to being enthusiastic and engaging as a way of teaching new skills to people.
- English language teaching assistant with the British council in Spain. This gave me experience working with children of varying ages and generally what living in another country and culture was like.
- Volunteering with the RSPB. I have a licence to use a chainsaw (for the UK) and have felled trees as part of conservation projects, where I also drove 4 by 4s.
-Workaway in Portugal at a farm stay. This experience was amazing and taught me about permaculture, regenerative farming and how to fix broken sandles with a belt.Age

What else ...
When I finally go back to the big scary world of adult life and responsibilities I aim to work in conservation and the environment
