My next destination:
Denmark - from Jun 2025 until Jun 2025 View allDescription
Hello! I'm just starting out on my Workaway journey, and I'm very excited! Travel has always been a huge goal for me, but one I haven't been able to explore much until more recently. Now, my son is all grown up and living his own life and it's time for me to spread my wings! I was born and raised on a farm in western Canada, and have lived the last 15 years in a small, isolated town in northern Ontario, Canada. I've been running my own massage therapy business for the past 15 years. I have gardening/farming/building experience from my childhood, as well as owning an 88 acre property several years ago, and building an enormous garden on it (flowers and vegetables! I LOVE to garden.) Traveling for me is all about 1)People 2)Plants 3)Beauty 4)Food. I am over 40 years old AND I am strong, energetic, multi-skilled, and enthusiastic!

More details about your skills
I have years of experience gardening, experimenting with different methods (traditional tilling/hoeing/weeding/etc, heugelkultur, no till, strawbale, deep mulch, etc). I have propogated hundreds of plants from seed. I have moved and transplanted probably over 300 trees/shrubs/plants over the years.
I have kept chickens and rabbits, and had a dog and 3 cats for years.
I have some building experience: framing, hanging drywall, wiring electrical outlets, installing light fixtures, and some plumbing. I'm proficient with chopsaws, drills/drivers, and air nailers. I'm less experienced but still comfortable with table saws, sawsalls, jigsaws, circular saws, orbital sanders, and angle grinders. I'm quite comfortable with all manner of manual tools.
I was a janitor for 2 years, and I do a lot of disinfecting in my current career. I do enjoy cleaning.
I can cook, though I definitely enjoy being an assistant/prep cook more than a main cook.
I have quite a lot of experience painting (walls, ceilings, doors, cupboards, etc), and some experience staining wood.
I have moderate computing skills from running my business over the past decade and a half. I am proficient with, and love Excel.
I have operated heavy machinery (payloaders, tractors), smaller machinery (mowers, mini loaders), have driven a car in England successfully, and drive my car extensively in Canada for my work.
I can sew, knit, crochet, and embroider to a moderate degree.
I have raised my son into successful adulthood! So that speaks to at least some degree of skill with children of all ages!
I have been a Registered Massage Therapist in Canada for 15 years. So I have a lot of expertise with the human body, how it functions, how to help it heal, how to strengthen it, and how to alleviate pain.
I'm always happy to learn more and am very open to direction/new methods, and comfortable working with people or on my own once I have the hang of things.Age
42
What else ...
I LOVE board/card games. My favorite is probably Catan. I like singing, dancing, hula hooping, hiking, biking, and reading.
