Bahia, Brazil - from Jul 2024 until Aug 2024 View allDescription
Hey there! My name is Sara and I'm from Barcelona. I joined workaway because I am looking for new experiences that allow me to try things that otherwise I wouldn't and meet different people and different realities.
I'm particularly interested in languages, and I enjoy very much learning the local ones while traveling. I'm also interested in popular music, and that's one of the things I would like to discover during my travels (and even more if the destination is Brazil!). Other things I love doing are sewing, hiking, reading… I have many things left to try and any new skill or knowledge I can add to the list will be more than welcome :)
I am well organized, active and passionate about many things. When I am comfortable, I am very out-going, even though I also enjoy spending time with myself.Interests

Right now, I'm interested on practising portuguese on my trip to Brazil. On exchange, I wouldn't mind helping out with Catalan or Spanish, or even English, even though is not my mother tongue.Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn

I work tutoring in languages and music. Mainly, I teach spanish and catalan (to individuals or groups) and guitar/ukelele/music theory. That has taught me many things and has given me the opportunity to connect with many people and learn something from each one of them. On summers, I work with kids in summer camps.
Other than that, I was in a workaway for two weeks on a juice production farm, where I developed skills to help the owners produce the juice. I didn't have any experience, but I think I learned fast enough to be helpful. That was my first experience working in farming and I can't wait to repeat. I was also helping out in another workaway where I helped with hotel cleaning and babysitting/language teaching.
Two years ago, I also volunteered in a soup kitchen, where I helped out making dinner, getting the tables ready… We prepared dinner two days a week for almost 70 people! Within the same organization, I helped out in a charity store, where my job was to sort out bags with donations and organize whatever we could find inside (clothes, toys, books...).
I don't have a lot of experience in many fields, but I'm open to learning!Age
