  • Description

Hi! I’m Rita, I'm 20 years old and I'm an adventurous and curious person who loves exploring new places and connecting with people from different backgrounds. I’m always up for a challenge and love adrenaline activities like hiking, ziplining, canoeing, horse riding, and even waterfall jumping. I’m also planning to go skydiving next year!

I’m Portuguese but have spoken English all my life, having attended an international school and recently completed an exchange semester in Los Angeles. I’m currently in my third year of a Management degree in Nova University in Lisbon and I'm always looking for opportunities to grow, step out of my comfort zone, and make a positive impact.

I’m very empathetic and attentive to others’ feelings, and I’m especially passionate about working with children and animals. I babysit regularly and have volunteered in dog shelters, as well as in community projects like feeding the homeless and organizing donations. I’d love to take on a longer volunteering experience where I can truly immerse myself in another culture while contributing meaningfully.

I’ve been to over twenty countries and still have an endless curiosity for discovering more of the world. In my free time, I enjoy playing the guitar, singing, drawing, and playing basketball, staying active and creative keeps me balanced.

I’m new to Workaway and really excited to make the most of this experience. I’m open to any opportunity around the world, ideally involving children or animals, and I’m looking forward to connecting, learning, and helping wherever I can!

  • More details about your skills

I’m currently taking a degree in Management at Nova School of Business and Economics in Lisbon, Portugal. This program has helped me build strong skills in organization, communication, and problem solving. Earlier this year, I completed an exchange semester at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, where I stepped out of my comfort zone, became more adaptable and independent, and developed greater confidence in social and multicultural settings. Meeting people from so many different backgrounds truly broadened my horizons.

Beyond academics, I’ve gained valuable leadership experience as Executive Vice-President of the Nova Skills Association, a student organization that helps students develop their soft skills. There, I helped coordinate events and support teamwork among students. Furthermore, as captain of my basketball team, I learned how to motivate others, bring together different personalities, and handle challenges calmly and responsibly. These experiences taught me to take initiative and lead with empathy.

Portuguese is my mother tongue, but I’m fluent in English and would be very comfortable teaching or helping others practice these languages. My tutoring and babysitting experience has strengthened my patience, creativity, and understanding when working with people, especially children.

I’m easygoing, reliable, and proactive, I enjoy connecting with others, learning quickly, and contributing to a positive team atmosphere. Whether it’s organizing, teaching, or hands-on work, I’m always eager to help and make a meaningful contribution.
