  • Description

Hi, I'm Rachele. I'm Italian and an aspiring artist/illustrator. I attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Genoa and in March 2024 I graduated with a dissertation about botanical art.
After my degree I worked in the cleaning sector and then in a bookbinding shop. Almost a year after my graduation I decided to leave for Ireland. I had been dreaming of visiting for years because its music and culture have always fascinated me. I'm not particularly fluent in English, I studied it at school and never had the opportunity to practise it. Hope that my stay in Ireland will help me to improve my English skills!
I'm a creative person and have good manual skills. Besides painting and drawing, I love sewing, cooking, making preserves and jams, and creating natural cosmetics such as soap and balms. Having worked in a bookbinding shop, I know how to bind books, create boxes and frames out of paper and fabric.
I was born and raised in a small village in the countryside, I love rural life, plants and animals.
I am an Irish folk music enthusiat. During my stay in Ireland I'd love to learn playing some traditional instruments and tunes. I'm also interested in Irish language and local folklore. I have a genuine curiosity about Irish culture.

I hope to meet you soon! :)

  • More details about your skills

As an Italian, I love cooking. I can prepare traditional Italian dishes but with a vegetarian twist, as I've been vegetarian for 10 years.
I have worked in the cleaning sector and I am practical with any kind of housework.
My family has a small farm that produces mostly wine grapes (vermentino) and since I was a kid I've always helped them with the management of the vegetable garden, the vineyard and the care of the animals. I really love rural life, I was born and raised in the countryside and I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty. :)
I am very careful to respect the environment, which is why I approached the world of self-production. I make my own clothes out of second-hand fabrics or bartered with friends, with my family we have always produced vegetables from our garden and over the years I have learnt to make my own cosmetics (mainly soaps, shampoos and ointments of various kinds). A few years ago I approached the world of herbs and plants, initially by painting them (which I still do), and then studying them from a more scientific point of view. I don't consider myself an expert in the plant world but an enthusiast who is still in the process of investigating and studying. Recently I've also become interested in foraging and wild food, but I am a beginner.
In my free time I love painting and drawing. Mostly watercolour and ink, and the subjects I represent are usually plants and animals, sometimes portraits. If required, I can teach naturalistic watercolour (as it is my field of study) or give some advice on it. I really enjoy reading and collecting illustrated old books, as I am an aspiring illustrator.
I'm a simple and easy-going person, I have a strong spirit of adaptation.
