Hello,
I recently retired from the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife (USA) and looking to get back into world traveling. My preferred way to travel is to learn about other’s lives through helping them on projects. This is something I love to do with friends at home as well.
I’ve lived many places in the USA including the east coast (New York, Connecticut), upper Midwest (Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin), Utah, California, and Alaska before settling down in Olympia, Washington where my two children were raised. I’m an avid outdoors person with preference for marine environments. I have a 7.6-meter sailboat and live on five wooded acres – so quite familiar with lots of home, property, boat, and garden projects. My past work experience has been working as a fishing guide in Alaska, working for indigenous tribes to help them protect freshwater fish habitat, and most recently leading a unit protecting our state from aquatic invasive animal species such as zebra and quagga mussels, European green crab, and African clawed frogs.
Besides getting to know fellow humans, I’m also passionate in continuing to learn about and protect the world’s diverse environments. I’m pretty good at do-it-yourself (DIY), photography, creating functional items out of found objects, cooking a variety of foods, fishing, boating and sailing. I’m a good listener and very comfortable being meditative in my own space. My spiritual path is the practice of being present, accepting myself and others, and listening to the spaces between words.
