Description
I retired from formal work at the end of 2024 and nowadays spend much of my time travelling or helping out various organisations in my home town as a volunteer.
Most of my career was spent working for a major international retail company in a number of technical roles such as product safety and compliance to standards. In my final decade with this company I was part of their Responsible Sourcing team focused on human rights and labour standards, which involved working collaboratively with a wide range of organisations including NGOs and trade unions in order to improve working conditions in supply chains.
After being made redundant, I also spent 5 years working for Hertfordshire Constabulary as a Police Community Support Officer in my local community.
The common denominator in the things I've done and still like to do is helping others however I can.

Although I started working with my father at a young age as a mechanic and farm worker, my skills in those areas are limited by lack of use in the intervening decades!
I have a certain level of IT skills through use of many IT systems throughout my career.
Photography has always been a hobby.
I enjoy working and communicating with people, particularly children (I have 4 grown up children of my own and a granddaughter). My voluntary work includes helping out in schools, organising Junior Parkruns and driving people who need help to their hospital appointments.
