I originally planned to stay at Bonne’s for just two months, but I ended up spending nearly six unforgettable months from January 10th to June 25th, with this incredible family, and it truly became a second home to me.

From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warmth, openness, and a genuine spirit of exchange. Bonne & her family went above… read more and beyond to make sure I was comfortable, informed, and integrated into their daily life and local culture. They created space for me to contribute meaningfully while also encouraging me to explore, learn, and grow throughout my stay.

Living with the family was one of the most enriching parts of my Workaway experience. Bonne has two absolutely amazing kids Arsenè and Baby. both full of life, curiosity, and so much joy. Spending time with them daily was one of my greatest pleasures. From small chats and laughter to playtime and learning moments, they became like younger siblings to me. Watching them grow over these months was heartwarming, and I will always cherish the bond we formed.

The home environment is peaceful, well-structured, and filled with kindness. The housekeeper, Janet is a gem — always kind, helpful, and consistent, with a warm presence that adds a lot of comfort to the household. She also helped me whenever i had any little troubles, that included braiding my hair, which I deeply appreciated.

Throughout my stay, I was encouraged to contribute ideas and be creative. Whether I was helping around the home, engaging with the kids, or assisting with small projects, it never felt like work, it felt like I was part of something shared and valuable. The communication was always clear and respectful, and my personal space and time were also respected.

This was more than just a volunteer placement, it became a life experience filled with genuine connection, cultural exchange, and beautiful memories. I feel incredibly lucky to have extended my stay and been part of this amazing household. I leave with a full heart and new family ties.

To anyone considering staying with Bonne & her Family, you will not only find a wonderful opportunity to help and learn, but also a nurturing environment, laughter, great conversation, and people who care deeply about those around them. The best Host you’ll ask for in Rwanda.

Thank you so much for everything. This is a chapter of my life I’ll always carry with gratitude.
