¡Hola! I'm Nora, originally from the city of Amsterdam, but currently soaking up the sun in beautiful Barcelona. As a sociologist by training and a seasoned waitress, I have always been drawn to understanding people and connecting with them in various settings.

What motivates me? It's the simple joys of life: being outdoors, going fo a run, and being surrounded by friends. I thrive on interactions, and nothing makes me happier than engaging with new faces, hearing their stories, and sharing laughter over shared experiences.

In Barcelona, I'm not just here to explore the city's culture and lifestyle; I'm passionate about improving my Spanish skills, and what better way to do so than by living among locals and engaging in meaningful conversations?

I'm on Workaway to find a place where I can continue this journey of growth and connection for this summer. Whether it's volunteering, working with kids, or simply being part of a community that values cultural exchange, I'm eager to contribute and learn.

I would love to improve my Spanish. Before I moved to Barcelona, I was not able to speak a word. After working in some restaurants in the city centre, taking several courses and meeting and talking with the natives, I learned the basics. But now I want to give 150% to improve my Spanish! My English and Dutch is fluent, so I am able to do a language exchange!

In addition to my background in sociology and years of experience as a waitress, I bring a range of skills and qualities to the table. I am organized, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and deadlines are met. My love for preparing food and enjoying it together with others means I'm always eager to contribute to communal meals and create memorable dining experiences. Being tidy is second nature to me, ensuring that shared spaces are kept clean and welcoming.

Furthermore, as a morning person, I'm up and ready to tackle the day with enthusiasm, but only after a cup (or two) of coffee. Above all, I prioritize fun and enjoy fostering a lively atmosphere wherever I go, making me a great addition to any team or community.

What else ...

My favourite types of days are when I can combine the day with a run in the beginning and end it with a beer at the end of the day. I place a lot of importance on balance. I enjoy undertaking activities, going somewhere for the weekend or on a long trip, I love it all! Thereby I listen to music all day long, as a kid I loved to sing and I took singing classes for many years. Unfortunately, now with a lot of neighbours in the building I reduced my singing hours.

Finally, I always used to love working with kids. I was a baby sitter from the age of 14. I love teaching kids, but also just playing games with them!
