Description
Hi! Nice to meet you :))
I'm Giorgia, 24 yo and I come from a quite small city on the Italian seashore, Pesaro.
For two years I lived on my own in Bologna while studying at the University, where I attended the faculty of DAMS (Disciplines of Arts, Music, and Drama).
I'm a curious and motivated person who loves exploring new places, meeting people from different cultures, and learning new skills. One of the things I enjoy most about travelling is the opportunity to step outside my comfort zone and experience everyday life from a different perspective.
At first I can be a little shy, but once I feel comfortable I'm very easy to talk to and enjoy getting to know people. I'm calm, open-minded, and easygoing. I like spending time with others just as much as I appreciate having some quiet time for myself. I also believe that good communication is the key to solving problems, so I always prefer talking things through rather than arguing or complaining.
At the beginning of 2024, I spent five months in the Westfjords of Iceland, which was my first long experience abroad. It was one of the best experiences of my life. That experience made me realize how much I enjoy cultural exchange and inspired me to keep travelling and discovering new ways of living.
So far, my first and only Workaway experience was during the summer of 2025, when I spent one month in a self-managed community in the Fyn region of Denmark, made up of several families living and working together. It was a wonderful opportunity to experience community life and contribute to many different daily activities. My tasks were mainly practical and hands-on: working in the garden, chopping and stacking firewood, cooking, repainting walls, helping with camper van maintenance and repairs, and taking care of any other jobs that needed to be done. I really enjoyed the variety of the work and the satisfaction of learning practical skills while contributing to the community.
More recently, I spent six months in Bahía Blanca, Argentina, doing the Italian Universal Civil Service. During this experience, I discovered a new side of myself by working closely and directly with teenagers from disadvantaged and challenging backgrounds. Together with the social workers, we organized recreational activities, workshops, games, and shared afternoon snacks. Building relationships with the youngsters, listening to them, and being a positive presence in their daily lives was incredibly rewarding. This experience taught me a lot about empathy and the importance of creating a welcoming and supportive environment for others.
I'm always happy to help, eager to learn, and excited to share experiences with the people I meet along the way.
Outside of travelling, my biggest passions are photography and videomaking.
I also love cooking and trying recipes from different cultures.
I write for an independent online magazine dedicated to emerging Italian artists, where I write articles about the independent music scene. -

I attended a linguistic high school from 2016 to 2021 with first language: English (B2), second language: Spanish (B1), and third language: German (B1). To be completely honest, I do not have a real B1 level in German, I may have an A1/A2 at the maximum. I also got a B2 First Cambridge Certificate in the summer of 2020 but, by practicing it every single day for 5 months in Iceland ('cause I spoke English to my host family and friends there), I improved it a lot. -

More details about your skills
House chores/babysitting: I was an aupair for 5 months in Iceland in 2024, so I'm pretty trained to stay with kids.
Cooking meals: I love to cook Italian food and I also love learning how to cook food from other countries since I'm curious by nature.
Photography/videomaking: I define myself as quite creative, I'm self-taught in photography and videomaking; I also know a little about tattooing and painting.

What else ...
I love to cook, I've been doing it since I was a baby 'cause my dad has this hobby and in the past, he liked teaching me and my sister how to eat and cool well (I can make almost all the typical Italian dishes and also some fresh pasta, pizza or cakes for example). I eat everything from vegetables to meat, fish, pasta, legumes...
I am a fan of music in all senses, I love going to concerts, and I love listening to music while I do my things like reordering my room, making the dishwasher or setting/clearing the table, cooking... and stuff like that.
I also enjoy reading books, taking long walks, and going by bike. Here in Italy, in Pesaro, I always go everywhere by bike because we have almost the longest bike path in Italy so it's even safe and relaxing. -
