Hi! My name is Niamh, I'm eighteen years old, and looking to fly the nest for a few months before I go to university. I have been living in Dublin since summer 2024; before that I was at school in Scotland. I have also lived in Jerusalem and London.
I'm a big fan of the outdoors. I took part in the British Duke of Edinburgh Program which, among other things, involved a four day expedition around Ben Nevis in the Scottish Highlands. It was great fun being off the grid with a small group of friends, navigating dodgy paths and pitching our tents on windswept slopes. I have also completed the 'Coast to Coast' walk across the north of England with my father.
When I lived in Jerusalem, I rode horses weekly. I took part in a number of showjumping competitions in Palestine with my riding club and did a number of hacks with friends in northern Israel. Last summer, I did volunteer work at a stables in Ireland.
Swimming in the outdoors is another favourite activity, from freezing Scottish lochs to the equally baltic waters of the Gulf of Finland.
For the last few months, I have been working in a local cafe/bakery in Dublin. My work involves taking and preparing orders from customers, making and serving coffees, and closing up at the end of the day. Highlights have included assisting in the baking of 1,600 mince pies ahead of Christmas, handling the chaos of the pre-Christmas rush with nearly a hundred cake orders to package up and get ready, not to mention perfecting the art of coffee making!
I enjoy my work but am keen to get out of my comfort zone and see more of the world, as well as meet new and fascinating people from different walks of life. I first had a taste of that in Jerusalem, where I lived for five years. As well as Israelis and Palestinians, my school had children from across the world - the sons and daughters of foreign journalists, diplomats, and humanitarian aid workers – which gave me a wonderful exposure to a wide variety of cultures.Interests

More details about your skills
For the last few months, I've been working in a cafe/bakery, learning how to become a barista and developing my front-of-house skills with our loyal South Dublin clientele. I am a hard and conscientious worker, as ready to sweep the floor at the end of the day as I am to attempt a pretty design on the head of a cappuccino.
After living with my family in Jerusalem, I went to a boarding school in Scotland for my last two years of school. It was my first experience away from home, which meant I learned to be independent, and deal with new challenges myself.
My favourite subjects were English and History, but I also enjoyed Maths and Physics as well. At university, I plan to study International Relations. In Jerusalem, I learned Arabic, and still like to try it out when I meet people from Arabic-speaking countries!
I am an intermediate level horse rider, having taken part in a couple of junior competitions in the West Bank. I also helped take some of the lessons for the beginner riders at my stables in Jerusalem.
I have recently taken up crocheting and am currently working on a large blanket. For many years, I was also into origami – the family home is full of literally hundreds of pieces of carefully folded paper!Age

What else ...
I really like reading - some of my favourite books include 'The Wrath and the Dawn' by Renée Ahdieh and 'The Great Gatsby' by F. Scott. Fitzgerald. Board games are a staple in my family. My current favourite board game is Setlers of Catan; my family and I have also recently started playing poker which to my surprise is great fun :D
I'm also very happy completing puzzles on a rainy day with a nice cup of tea by my side! Some more information

She carried out a range of tasks independently and I could rely on her to look after the animals. She was happy to ask questions to clarify anything necessary.
I recommend her to other hosts.
