Description
Hello ! I'm Mya. I'm new to workaway and eager to get started !! I am looking primarily for work involving animals, particularly work with horses and dogs, really any kind of animal rescues. One of my main goals is to meet and interact with people from all kinds of backgrounds- preferably very different from my own. Aside from working with animals, I am very interested in helping out in hostel-type businesses due to how many people from all over the world I would get to meet and get to learn about different life experiences from. I do prefer to begin my workaway experiences by starting off at a location within the U.S., but I hope to eventually end up exploring many more countries through this program.

I have been taking horse riding lessons since I was 6 years old, and have volunteered on many ranches throughout that time. I used to form arrangements of working on ranches (doing maintenance of both the property and care of the animals) in exchange for riding lessons. I sincerely enjoy training animals, and have since a very young age trained my dog, sami, how to do lots of tricks such as jumping through hula hoops and playing dead. I currently work a retail job at zumiez, a skateboarding and clothing store, where I am a sales associate. This gives me a lot of practice handling customers needs, problem solving, protecting the store from theft, providing many types of services, and surprisingly a lot of heavy lifting and physical labor with carrying 12 foot ladders and large shipment boxes all around the store and the mall we are located in.

I have an affinity for all art mediums, particularly tattoo artistry. I recently bought a tattoo gun and have been practicing henna tattoos and drawing on myself and others for multiple years. I still love to do henna and am in the process of acquiring the things necessary to actually practice with my tattoo gun (ink, fake skin, stencil paper, sanitary tools). I also love to skateboard, something my dad has taught me over the years that I love to do for fun but am remarkably not very good at. My favorite video games of all time are Minecraft and Red Dead, both of which I don't play much anymore. I spend most of my free time with my amazing friends, going to small band's shows at local venues, or lounging with my adorable dog, sami.
