  • Description

Hi, my name is Meagan (I usually go by Moss). I love working hands-on and find that, for myself, that's the best way to learn new things. I like getting my hands dirty in the soil and find that working with plants and animals is so rewarding. Being outside is what truly brings me happiness and to do that in new places is even better.

I have always loved to travel and see new places but found my favorite part was getting to know the people there and getting immersed in the community and of course Nature. I am naturally curious and always want to learn more and new skills. This natural curiosity drives my work ethic and motivates me.

This is what I seek my traveling experience to be. One of learning and hard work. One sharing community and getting to know individuals and share great conversations. An experience where I am changing and growing with the seasons and the people. One being a steward of the land and people. Even though there may be some hard days, those days will pass; and so too with the good ones, so its best to cherish all of them!

My current experience is mostly with vegetable farming, with three seasons under my belt. I am only a few years of study in herbalism and would absolutely love to learn more! Otherwise here are some of my other experiences (with varying degrees)... Cooking, baking (kitchen jobs), animal husbandry, overall animal care (cats, dogs, sheep, chickens, ducks, cows, pigs are who I have worked with). I have also studied undergraduate college and graduated with an environmental studies and policy degree (with a focus on general science courses - my favorite being hydrology).

I love to hike, go swimming in gorgeous places, camp, and generally explore the outdoors. in the evenings I love to do crafts like blending teas, collaging, writing poetry while listening to some music.

In the future I dream of building my own homestead, even better a small farm that provides to my neighbors and overall community. I hope this farm will have all the herbs and animals running around. I would love to care for some bees. And finally, I would love to be immersed in nature. While I dream of this, I have a lot to learn first.

  • More details about your skills

I have my bachelors in Environmental Studies and Policy. I've worked on a handful of farms throughout the past 4 years some through Workaway and some as a full time worker. I would consider myself a good researcher especially when it relates to the environment in some capacity. I am very crafty ( I love up cycling where I can) and can think well on the fly. I am also very independent though I know when to ask for help.
