Description
Hey everyone,
My name is Ann-Kathrin, but most people call me Akay. I’m 23 years old and come from the countryside in Germany, but living in a shared apartment at the moment for studying purpose. I’m currently studying to become a primary school teacher, with German and English studies as my main subjects. I’m a friendly, approachable, and open-minded person – more on the quiet and introverted side, but always up for a good laugh or a new adventure. I love being outdoors, drawing, and playing the clarinet. I like to cook and bake but also enjoy board and card games and trying new things, whether that’s food, activities, or cultural traditions.
I joined Workaway because I’d love to spend a few months abroad to improve my English, gain life experience, and learn new practical skills before I graduate from university with my bachelor’s degree.
I’m really excited to experience new countries and cultures, meet inspiring people, and learn about their way of life. This is my first time on Workaway, and I’m so looking forward to starting this journey, helping out, and learning along the way! -

More details about your skills
I’ve gained experience working with children through my studies, various school placements and volunteer work. Before i started my studies i did an voluntary year at a primary school in my hometown.
I enjoy being creative and love drawing, crafting, and making music. I’ve been playing the clarinet in an orchestra since 2015.
I’m also used to helping out with household tasks, gardening, and basic maintenance.
Over the past few years, I’ve taken several short trips across Europe, which helped me discover my love for exploring new cultures, cities, and ways of life. These experiences made me more independent, adaptable, and curious. I’m comfortable working both on my own and as part of a team, and I’m always happy to learn new things and lend a helping hand wherever needed. -
