Hi, I’m Mia! I’m from Australia, with a European family background. I'm looking forward to travelling Europe soon with my friends and then continuing solo. I'm really excited for the opportunity to immerse myself in local life, connect with new people and experience new adventures. Workaway feels like the perfect opportunity for this and I would love to contribute where I can!
I'm an organised, flexible, and friendly person with a strong work ethic. I currently work as a team leader at a childcare centre and am studying a Diploma of School Age Education and Care. I've also worked in a family entertainment centre with a small farm, where I cared for animals and also took on a management role. These experiences have shaped my love for working with both people and animals, and strengthened my sense of responsibility, patience, and initiative.
When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me doing Pilates, walking my dog, reading, or discovering new coffee spots. I love being outdoors, and I’m happiest when I’m surrounded by trees, mountains, or the ocean. I’m a spontaneous person who finds a lot of joy in the little things and the simple beauty in the whimsically ordinary.
This trip feels like a big step in my personal journey. I’m looking forward to the independence, the emotional growth, and the shared experiences with new people along the way.Interests

More details about your skills
I’m most confident helping with childcare, animal care, general house support, and farmstay tasks as I have the most experience in these areas. However, I am always eager to learn new skills and expand my knowledge!
At my current job, I divide my time working directly with the children and doing administrative work in the head office. Throughout my time working here, I have learnt so much about the importance of play in childhood and a variety of inclusive approaches to cater to each child's individual needs.
In my previous job at a family entertainment centre, I wore many hats—working as a children’s party host, miniature train driver, farm hand, barista, cafe attendant, and eventually assistant manager. It certainly made for a very varied day, that's for sure! At the farm, we had ponies, alpacas, sheep, chickens, pigs, ducks, a cow, a goat, turkeys, and birds, all of which I helped care for by feeding them, topping up their water, and maintaining their enclosures. During my time working there, I became more confident thinking on my feet, adapting to different situations, and keeping up in a busy, fast-moving environment.
I also spent a few years working at a local horse riding school, where I handled a variety of tasks including grooming, feeding, mucking out stalls, tacking up horses, and leading children on trail rides. I'm more than happy to get my hands dirty—whether that’s mucking out stalls, cleaning, or helping with odd jobs around the property.
While I don’t have much experience with gardening, cooking, or general maintenance yet, I’ve recently been enjoying meal prepping for myself each week and would love the chance to help out in the kitchen, garden, or with basic maintenance tasks and expand my skills. I’m a clean and organised person who helps with general upkeep around the house regularly, and I’m always keen to jump in and tackle any jobs that come up.
Overall, I’m flexible, curious, and always eager to learn something new—especially when it comes to hands on work or living in a new environment. I take pride in being proactive and enjoy stepping in to help without always needing direction.Age
