  • Description

**Update as of 19th April 2026** Sorry! I'm currently booked up with Workaways until ~Sept-October. I will begin looking again later in the year. Thank you!!

    Hi :)

I'm Meg, 30 years old, born and living in Perth, Western Australia. I love Perth and I do imagine myself settling here one day, but I can’t shake the feeling that I need to explore and live elsewhere first. I’m grateful to be in a position where I can do that - to seek new communities, experiences, and share what I can with others. For a long time, I've let comfort hold me back, but recently l felt life giving me a hint: I ended my long-term relationship, was made redundant through a company restructure, and finished my degree - all within a few weeks. It felt like too obvious a sign not to seek what I'd always wanted and take this opportunity to start a fresh chapter.

I love deep conversation, learning about what people have done, what they think, how they've lived and loved. I love painting and drawing, cooking, keeping healthy with exercise, and seeking out new knowledge and learning. I'm usually inspired by what others are passionate about and want to share that experience. I’ve dabbled in both French and Spanish, and while Spanish feels more beginner-friendly, I'd love to tackle and challenge myself with French.

I felt a bit lost for a while and unsure what I was passionate about. On a whim, I enrolled in a Computer Science degree and eventually became a software engineer before I'd graduated. For the past five years, I’ve been working in that field while slowly finishing my studies. While I value the experience, I’ve realised that pure software work doesn’t bring me the fulfilment I’m looking for. I want to contribute to something that feels meaningful, so I’m now shifting my focus toward environmental remote sensing. I’ve been accepted into a master’s program next year, which I'll study part-time remotely, giving me the freedom to travel while I study.

I’m open-minded and value carrying myself with warmth and compassion for others. I'm intentional and detail-oriented, sometimes to a fault, but I take pride in doing things with genuine effort. I love learning practical skills and anything that teaches self-sufficiency. I’m also fairly technically proficient thanks to my work. I appreciate understanding how things work from the ground up and putting care into what I'm working on.

I’d love to spend a few months away on workaway, learning from others, helping where I can, and experiencing life in a new place before I eventually look to relocate somewhere in Europe for a few years. Ideally, I'd be looking for a workaway to really invest in and stay for a period, but I'm open to shorter stays as well :)

  • What else ...

In my down time, I do yoga and stretching in the morning and exercise by running and strength training, although my exercise has slipped as of late!
I play social weekly soccer with a group of friends, I enjoy quiet nights in and do potluck and board games nights with friends often, or enjoy a nice dinner out wine friend catch ups.
I love painting, drawing and cooking. I love learning about new topics. I want to explore everything - which can be exhausting!
