  • Description

    Hi!

We are Leo and Maya from Germany - two young, creative, spontaneous but organized travel enthusiasts who plan to continue their journey from Australia along the south-east coast of Asia.
It is important to us to get a real insight into other cultures and lifestyles - not only scratching the surface. We are open to any kind of work and would love to give you some helping hands in exchange for some interesting stories and insights in your culture. :)

Now a little bit more about each of us....

    Maya:
Hi! I'm Maya but you can also call me Mikey, just like my friends and family do :)
    Nice to meet you!
I'm a dreamer and an artist with a diploma in 3D/Animation. I take my inspirations from all of my travels around the world - trying to create unique and moving pieces.

I grew up with 3 amazing sisters - one older one and two younger ones - with whom I share my interests in traveling, cultures and languages. I myself speak German and English fluently, French on an Intermediate level and I am currently trying to improve my Japanese.
With 18 I moved to Berlin where I studied 3D/Animation. Right after graduating I moved to Japan for one year, working in a small retail shop in the heart of Tokyo for seven months, then traveling around Japan with the help of workaway for four additional months.
Last September I then came to Australia where I lived in Sydney for five months and then on a small Island called 'Great Keppel Island' until this June.

I'm a huge fan of nature, not much of a party person, and enjoy sitting in a café with my sketchbook or on the beach with a good book.
But what I would absolutely love the most would be becoming a part of your life for a short time - learning from you, cooking with you, working for you. :)

    Leo:
I come from a social studies background, having completed a social-focused high school diploma where I spent a full year working with children while learning the foundations of pedagogy and psychology. That experience shaped the way I see people—patiently, openly, and with genuine curiosity.

Creativity has always been a big part of who I am. I love making things with my hands, trying out new ideas, and seeing where they take me. At the same time, I feel most at home in nature—especially by the ocean. There’s something about the sea that grounds me and makes everything feel a little more alive.

I’m deeply fond of animals, and any encounter with a furry companion instantly brightens my day. Whether it’s a quick moment or a longer connection, I value those small, genuine interactions.

Right now, I’m living a chapter of exploration in Australia. I started in Sydney, working as a bar supervisor, gaining responsibility and experience in a fast-paced environment. Since January, I’ve been traveling along the East Coast, combining work and adventure. I spent two months working behind a bar in Airlie Beach, and now I’ve found myself surrounded by the lush, wild beauty of the Daintree Rainforest, where I’m currently working at a bar.

For me, life is about experiencing new places, meeting different people, and growing through every step along the way.

  • More details about your skills

Our mother tongue is German, although we speak English fluently, a little bit of French and are also learning Japanese at the moment!
Both of us grew up on the countryside in Germany, near Cologne, with various pets like dogs, cats, chickens, fish and occasionally horses.
That makes us huuuge animal lovers with a lot of experiences :)
Additionally, we grew up with younger siblings, which has given us a strong sense of responsibility and a genuine love for taking care of others and since we both each grew up in a house with a garden we used to help out our parents a lot with their daily tasks, making us adaptable and hardworking.
We're very open minded, flexible, trustworthy, reliable, love nature and new adventures!

  • What else ...

In our free time, we’re passionate about photography, videography, film editing, and cinematography. Music has always been important to us—we enjoy playing instruments, singing, and dancing.
We're also very creative- painting, drawing, and coding have always played a significant role in our lives. Additionally, we love playing board games like Dungeons & Dragons and others with our friends to bring new stories to life.
We used to play Volleyball in a Team in Germany, did some swimming, kick-boxing, soccer, athletics and floorball.
