Description

Hola! My name is Mariya and most people call me Masha. I live in Boston and work as a mycologist but lately I have been getting the itch to shake things up. I did three workaways in the past that were all amazing experiences, and right now the building I live in is being sold so I'm tempted to travel again as I have to move anyways.

I have a degree in sustainability and am a huge nature and animal lover. I studied permaculture and have quite a bit of experience in mushroom cultivation. In my previous stays I have taken care of animals (including turtles, donkeys, and an emu), built gardens, grown mushrooms, created art, and cleaned and renovated spaces. I am very detail oriented and a fast learner. I love to be creative and can work independently. I also have quite a bit of hospitality experience. Any opportunity to speak Spanish is exciting for me!

One of my favorite things about workaway is the ability to experience a place from the insider perspective of locals, and I love visiting a new place knowing that I made a contribution to the community there. I'd love to use my skills to help others and ideally I hope to gain some new skills as well. I consider myself a life-long learner and I am always looking to grow. My current work position is part of a start-up so I've had to wear many hats within that role. I'll be staying on remotely and working about 10 hours a week.

Right now I am in a transitionary phase of my life and I'm not sure I'll have this much flexibility again so I'd like to take advantage of it. I'm contemplating where I want to put down roots and I'm hoping some new perspectives and experiences can help guide me into the next chapter of my life. Some of my best memories have come from previous workaways so I'm eager to venture out and see what life has in store for me!

I long to be near the ocean and while I enjoy exploring cities, I also love venturing into the woods and being one with nature. I love dancing, hiking, yoga, art, animals, and music. I love getting to know people but I also deeply value my downtime and can easily entertain myself. Cleanliness and peace are very important to me. I hope to meet other down to earth people who just want to enjoy life and make the world a better, more sustainable place.
