Hi! My name is Mairi and I am a Scottish primary school teacher with a strong passion for travel and exploring. I am eager to take on a variety of different experiences and learn from different people and cultures.
I have worked previously as an Au Pair in London and Italy and thoroughly enjoyed it, so I am excited to take on new opportunities.

As a qualified teacher, I take great pride in working with children and have experience teaching and caring for those aged 3 to 12. I am confident in creating warm, and respectful relationships with both children and their families. My background includes multiple roles as an Au Pair and nanny, and I am still in contact with the families. I bring a creative and enthusiastic approach and can offer engaging games and play opportunities. Also, I have experience supporting children with a range of additional support needs, offering inclusive and attentive care. For a price, I am happy to offer tutoring.

A strong interest of mine is languages. I speak a conversational level of French, teach it as a subject, and have previously been an Au Pair for an Italian family. I am very confident when working with children or adults with English as an additional language - I communicate effectively and organise play opportunities for children to encourage language learning. I enjoy learning new languages and being immersed in different cultures, so I would love any opportunity to do this further!

Growing up in the Highlands of Scotland, I spent a significant amount of my childhood in nature. As a result, I take great satisfaction in gardening and being outdoors. I am regularly growing different plants, from house plants to herbs and wildflowers and most recently built a pond. Whilst this is still a fairly new hobby, I am very eager to learn more and would approach this with enthusiasm.

I have an enthusiastic love of animals. I have had several different pets - dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters and peacocks (!) - and am knowledgeable about caring for them. My kind and calm natures ensures that I have patience with any animals and I take great pleasure in looking after them.

Finally, I have a very close relationship with my elderly grandmother. I often look after her and help with various tasks, such as cleaning, cooking and driving her to different appointments. I love taking her out for day trips and listening to all her stories, and would happily do this for others. Whilst I have no formal care qualifications, I am more than happy to offer help around the house and build relationships with others.
