My name’s Leo, I’m 22 years old from Canada and currently travelling Australia on a Working Holiday Visa after recently graduating university.

After finishing school, I wanted to get outside of my comfort zone, experience a different way of life, and travel as far from home as possible... which somehow led me all the way to Australia. Since arriving, I’ve completely fallen in love with travelling, meeting new people, hearing their stories and experiencing places in a more genuine way than normal tourism allows.

Back home I run my own small business. I enjoy staying busy, learning new things and being hands-on.
In my free time I love exercising, basketball, hiking, music, coffee, writing and creating. I make and produce music myself and enjoy anything creative. I also really value good conversations, meeting people from different backgrounds and staying present in whatever environment I’m in.

I’m especially drawn toward experiences involving nature, farms, sustainability, hospitality, animals, gardening, regional communities and outdoor lifestyles. For me, travelling is less about rushing between destinations and more about immersing myself in places and contributing positively while I’m there.

While I’m new to Workaway, I’m excited about the opportunity to exchange work, skills and energy for meaningful experiences, good people and a different way of living.

I recently graduated university in Canada with a degree in Media and Communication Studies, but most of my real-world skills have come from working in fast-paced environments, running my own business, travelling, and being willing to try new things.

I have experience in hospitality, cafés, events, customer service, logistics and physically demanding work. I’m comfortable working long hours, helping guests, working outdoors, lifting and setup work, cleaning, organising spaces, and adapting quickly to different environments. I’ve also worked as a team leader during large university events and enjoy working with people from different backgrounds.

Back home I run a small business selling posters and organizing pop-up events for university students. Through that I learned a lot about communication, problem solving, sales, transportation/logistics, social media, creativity and working independently.

Creatively, I make and produce music in my free time and enjoy creating content in any way I can. I’m also very active and love basketball, hiking, running, gym training and generally being outdoors.

I’d say one of my biggest strengths is that I’m adaptable and bring good energy into whatever environment I’m in. I enjoy learning practical skills, helping wherever needed and contributing positively to a team or community.

What else ...

I enjoy reading, movies, music and pretty much anything creative. I’m a huge music person and always love hearing new artists or sharing playlists with people. I also love games of any kind - board games, cards, sports, although I can get a little competitive sometimes 😅

A big reason I’m travelling is to push myself outside my comfort zone, whether that’s through new environments, different types of work, meeting people from completely different backgrounds or just saying yes to experiences I normally wouldn’t back home.

I’d say I’m pretty easygoing and social, and I usually try to make people laugh or keep things light when I can. I’m definitely someone who values the overall experience and the people you meet along the way just as much as the destination itself.
