Description

I'm Laura, 28, from the UK. I’ve been living in Australia since October 2022 and at this point, I’ve probably seen more of this beautiful country than the average Aussie has! I love living in remote places and there are so many brilliant opportunities to work in tourism and hospitality in small, unexpected towns here.

I moved to Tasmania in February 2024 and I’ve ‘accidentally’ stayed here much longer than I ever planned to. Basically, I love this state too much to leave! In March 2025 I reluctantly left my wonderful job on the West Coast Wilderness Railway to finally see some more of what Tasmania has to offer.

I’m now looking for an opportunity to help out and learn new skills while I figure out ‘what’s next’. I’m flexible to giving anything a go, especially if it’s something I haven’t done before. I’d like to be hands-on and busy, and hopefully I can make a difference to your project! In my free time I do like to relax and have my own space, I’ll most likely be off on a hike somewhere or watching some rubbish reality TV.

I’ve worked in hospitality since I was 16 — apparently that’s 12 years ago now…! My best skills lie in customer service, tourism, barista coffees, food and beverage service, and reservations. I’m a whizz at public cleaning, laundry, and housekeeping. I have an Honours degree in Fashion Communication and Promotion, which means I know a lot about public relations, branding, marketing, and creative direction — admittedly, not skills I use much these days! I’m a hard worker, conscientious, able to be left alone to complete a task, I don’t get bored easily, I always finish what I start, and I’m a fast learner!
