Hi, I’m Yuyu! I have always loved connecting people from all walks of life. I was born in Guilin, China, a small city known for its mountains and rivers, and grew up in the USA. I recently graduated from college with degrees in Design and Psychology, and I’m now taking a gap year to slow down, travel, and connect with others in more ways!

I’m passionate about making things that help people, whether it’s through design, conversation, food, or shared experiences. I love cooking (especially family-style meals), chatting about culture and language, and exploring new ways of being here in the world.

I really enjoy language exchange and believe it’s one of the best ways to connect across cultures. I'm fluent in English and Mandarin, and I’d be happy to help others practice either one. I’ve taught both languages to kids before and love creating a fun, encouraging environment for learning. As someone who immigrated at a young age, I understand the challenges and joys of navigating multiple languages and cultures, and I’m always happy to support others on that journey!

What else ...

I enjoy crafting things by hand whenever I get the chance — whether that’s journaling, small DIY projects, or making thoughtful gifts. I love reading, taking care of plants, and picking up new skills just for the fun of it.

I’m especially curious about traditional cooking techniques from different cultures and would love to learn more about farming, sustainability, or any local practices wherever I’m staying. I'm always open to trying something new and helping out however I can.
