Jonah:
I am a professional forester (forest manager) and wildland firefighter of over four years, with a wide knowledge and deep love of the natural world. I have worked in many places in the US, as well as in Germany. For four years I worked with the Dept of Natural Resources in Washington State, before leaving to travel the world :) I am used to physically demanding work in remote, steep wild places in all sorts of weather (from boiling hot to freezing cold). I am used to sleeping on the ground and living without electricity, running water, etc. I have experience operating equipment like tractors, driving 4x4 vehicles, using chainsaws and wood splitters etc.
I am also a musician, playing banjo, drums, and singing (I always travel with an instrument). I would love to share music with you.
I am an experienced wilderness trekker, having spent many nights in the backcountry. I have lots of outdoor skills. I love to get deep deep into the wild!
I have a passion for literature. I try to read books from the places I am traveling, so please tell me your favorite authors! I have discovered so many wonderful books this way I otherwise would have never read.
I love to read, learn about history and culture, and spend time outdoors. I love to explore nature and learn about forests and trees and wildlife. I have a deep love for quiet and remote places.
I am a native English speaker, a conversational German speaker (B2 level), and a beginning Russian learner. I am always excited to learn as much of the local language as possible.
Harper:
In 2022 I graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor's degree in Linguistics. I love learning new languages and I would be happy to learn yours! I am an intermediate French speaker and a beginner Arabic and Spanish learner.
While in school I worked at a radio station, and afterwards I worked as a caregiver for the elderly (providing assistance with daily living). I would say my greatest strengths are curiosity, patience and positivity!
I also love to explore, garden, read, and watch wildlife. One of my life goals is to become a falconer!

We love languages! Harper has a Bachelors Degree in Linguistics (language science), and speaks some French, Arabic, and Spanish. Jonah has lived and worked in Germany and speaks good German, and is beginning to learn Russian.

Jonah: I have a lot of professional skills to offer. I have a Bachelors Degree in Forestry and have wide experience in that area (managing forests for timber, wildlife, recreation, road engineering, and reforestation/tree planting). I am an expert in trees and ecology. I have lots of work experience with chainsaws, 4-wheel drive vehicles and tractors, chopping firewood, and all sorts of outdoors, grounds, and farm labor tools and tasks. I am used to working long hours outdoors year-round in all types of weather. I have independently managed millions of dollars of timber, and am organized and responsible. I have some teaching experience as well. I am also a musician and entertainer--happy to put my skills there to use!
