Description

Hi, I’m Izzy! I’m 23 years old and I’m from England. I’m very passionate about animals and nature, and I’m excited to get involved in more meaningful conservation projects as I continue my journey around Australia.

Since I graduated university in 2024 (Geography BSc), I’ve spent a lot of time solo travelling. I’ve explored amazing cities, cultures and landscapes, and met so many wonderful people from all over the world.

I’m currently volunteering with a koala rescue organisation in Brisbane, where I monitor the rescue phone, assist with rescues and health checks, take part in bushcare and invasive species removal, and help raise awareness for the charity at fundraising events.

My previous volunteer experiences have involved living and working off-grid in some beautiful natural environments. From March-May 2026, I volunteered on a regeneration project in the Daintree Rainforest; helping in the nursery, removing invasive vines from newly planted trees, and carrying out ecological surveys, soil analysis and GIS mapping for research. In October 2025, I volunteered at a forest, beach and coral reef conservation centre in Malaysian Borneo where I maintained the hiking trail, cleaned the beach, helped build a coral nursery, and made informative social media posts. These experiences helped me develop a deeper connection with nature, while also becoming a more independent and mindful person.

I’m also experienced in customer service and hospitality, having worked as a Café Supervisor for over 3 years and a Barista for 6 years in both the UK and Australia.

In mid-late October I plan to continue my journey by travelling down to Tasmania. I would love to get involved in sustainable projects where I can contribute, learn new skills, and make a positive, lasting impact.
