Description
Hi! I'm a 35-year-old Londoner, writer (fiction, travel, poetry), teacher (english/english literature/philosopher) and photographer with wide-ranging workaway experience in Slovakia, Poland and Czech Republic, connected to permaculture, beekeeping, garden cleaning, and basic manual labour, all of which I enjoyed very much. I like to think I'm extremely adaptable and will try (hard) anything, as well as being very eager to learn both new skills and knowledge. Having said that, my base of knowledge is still relatively low; my 'normal life' has been incredibly non-hands-on (I've always lived in rented city rooms so I've never really had much exposure to decorating/design) so I'm primarily bringing a good work ethic, enthusiasm and a desire to learn rather than a wealth of knowledge. I'm particularly keen to do more outdoor/ gardening work and I have some basic knowledge of gardens and how gardens work (e.g., what is a weed, what is not a weed, various garden tools) as well as some basic knowledge of permaculture principles. I'm physically fit, and enjoy the physical aspect of work, especially as it's not something I have much opportunity for while working as a teacher. More generally, I am mature, sociabale, well-mannered, clean and responsible and keen also to have, at least to some extent, my own time and space. I am also an active (and passive) nature lover and enjoy the quiet and solitude of all kinds of landscape. Above all, I am eager to help out and meet new friends across the world; developing long lasting workaway-based friendships has been a greatly rewarding part of my life.

Jiahi and Hugh spent 10 days at my place and it was a great pleasure for me. Everything went very smoothly. Jiahi and Hugh are so kind and helpful. The conversations were so interesting. The work was a bit monotonous (plastering the walls) but they did it with great willingness. I really appreciated their presence.

Hugh was a very easy person to have around. He helped me loads in the garden preparing ground, planting potatoes and harvesting some alfalfa for the rabbits. Genuinely nice guy all round who was willing to try thing he hadn't done before and quickly got the hang of how to do new things

I had an excellent short stay at Lazar's place. The work was interesting, varied and entirely stressfree; there is a lovely yard full of interesting ornithological events, and there was a very good library of English books in my room. Lazar was a great host and a great cook; I'd be glad to return in the future.
