Description

I am a qualified English Teacher and native speaker from London, currently living in Sevilla, Spain. I’m looking for Workaway opportunities to make the most of exploring this beautiful world and meeting more amazing local people.

Previously, I have developed a range of skills in several industries as well as teaching:

- I enjoy tutoring students of all ages, and have particular experience with children age 11-16, and adults improving their pronunciation or studying business English.

- I taught high school biology, so I have an interest in animals, plants, the environment, health, and education about people and cultures.

- I worked with a small charity, helping their fundraising campaigns, and managing their website and communications.

- I spent two years working in project management roles in the medical communications and tech industries, developing my skills in proofreading, touchtyping, and working with diverse international teams.

- My hobbies include hiking, cycling, exploring nature, swimming, meditation and yoga. I also enjoy music and play the flute, as well as trying to improve my salsa dancing skills.

- I have experience of DIY and small renovations on my flat in Manchester, as well as an interest in cooking meals and learning about different cuisines.

More details about my language interests
I have been learning Spanish since 2023 and am currently studying a B1 level course. I hope to practice speaking more through Workaway to improve my understanding of the accent! I am a native English speaker and teacher, originally from London. I also studied French throughout school, but haven't practiced since then - I would like to get back into studying the language this year.

I have skills in writing, researching, proofreading, editing and typing in English.
Before teaching, I studied a masters in neuroscience and explored my interests in psychology, science and society. I'm comfortable with technology, public speaking, organising groups and adapting to new environments.
I have a Postgraduate Certificate in Education for teaching secondary school science, as well as experience with primary school children, residential summer camps, and special educational needs.
I have a TEFL certificate and experience with English conversation classes for adults of all ages.
I have taught students preparing for their B1/B2/C1 Cambridge English exams.
In the past, I have taught kayaking, camping skills, team building, drama and have experience in music.
I enjoy taking dance classes, and have helped organise jazz bands and choirs, as I play the flute and saxophone.

What else ...

My experience learning flute and saxophone has got me interested in a wide range of music; I also like to learn some bass, guitar and piano sometimes. I'm interested in history, philosophy and geography in general; there’s always more to learn and talk about, especially books/films/ideas. Also cooking meals, puzzles, boardgames and codebreaking are fun pastimes that I'm keen to share.
