Bonjour and hello,

My name is Gina and I am a Canadian teacher who decided to take the year off to travel France and improve my French. I have been living in Montpellier since October on a travel/work visa and I am looking to spend more time in the natural world offline. I enjoy hiking, reading, writing, yoga, meditation, making art, getting to know new communities, seeing/making theatre, running and cooking.

Quelle belle epoch!!

It has been a month since my stay chez Phillipe et Jean and quell rêve! They both work together seamlessly as team to provide a thoughtful and lovely stay for their workawayers. Both J & P are extremely generous and experienced as hosts. Phillipe is an excellent chef and you will eat very well and J will also see that you… read more never go hungry. I tried to keep track of the wonderful menu...brandade de morue, welsh rabbit, incroyable fromage, but I could not remember it al! They introduced myself and others to the joys of French cuisine, cheeses and wines and étiquette. Phillipe was incredibly gracious and will take note of your preferences and interests (culinary and personal!) and will see that your needs are met sensitively and courteously. He even gifted me a Bescherelle to help improve my French, I have begun to use it more now that I have left hon hon hon! Also grand merci Phillipe pour votre tarte aux pommes spectaculaire!

The ambiance of their beautiful home is so tranquil and lively with stories and laughs shared at meal times.The gardens are extremely beautiful and a pleasure to work in. The energy of the horses and dogs also add to an atmosphere of life and community. The accommodations are very cool and it's dreamy to live in a special spot like that among art and history . This will be a true culture exchange, though my French still needs much improvement, my comprehension and oral abilities skyrocketed here thanks to J &P.

I learned so much from Jean in the garden, "la nature deteste le vide" and he made me everyday. He was flexible and patient as a teacher and understanding when I would make mistakes and I am forever grateful. He is a true expert at what he does and will share freely his experience and opinions if you are smart enough to listen. He will also take account of the weather and schedule hours fairly to allow you time off and the optimal time for workers and the grounds. Both he and Phillipe take your well-being seriously and will advise you where to travel in Normandie, pick you up from the station, and in general are very helpful.

I could write a small novel about my time here (and probably should ) it was such a rich experience.
I miss my time already and hope to return one day, feels like being among wonderful friends and shout out to Wemersson, Ethan and Jack for making my stay even more formidable.
