Hi, I'm very curious to engage life in different ways and to learn new things, often in an immersive and intense way!
In high school I worked and volunteered for social justice and youth education initiatives. In college I designed my own BA degree to study emancipatory pedagogy (Freire, Horton, Clark, etc.). After college I traveled in two different stints to Durban, South Africa -- one time as a volunteer primary school teacher at a school were I organized and led after school arts and writing workshops, and the second time as Fulbright scholar publishing arts journalism and making my own short video essays.
After working in NYC for an arts organization, I traveled to Berlin, Germany for two years to work at a museum on the grounds of a former concentration camp; and after that I returned to the US to do a PhD that combined landscape architecture and comparative literature. I'm particularly interested in the intersection between place and memory.
I have also done some Wwoofing in Norway (sheep farm) and Austria (eco building), and would like to explore more hands-on collaborative building projects. In upstate NY, I have been working with a wonderful mentor from Guatemala digging french drains, planting trees, building pergolas, etc. Finally, last year I bought some land the US state of Maine and hope to build a small "no-grid" cabin there this summer. I look forward to learning from and sharing with others.Languages

Game for much outdoor work! Have some experience working on sheep farms clearing brush, staking fence posts, digging ditches; have helped carpenters with projects (and would be keen to learn more of this work); gardening, composting, tree planting, etc. Of course also happy to chat literature, poetry, art/film/design, and do some writing that would enhance a host's online profile. I must say, however, that after 8 years of graduate school, I am aiming to reduce my screen time:) Also, I enjoy being a sous-chef, and really enjoy washing dishes, tidying up after delicious meals.
