Description
I am 23 years old and in my second year of medical school in Sweden. Over the years I’ve worked with many different things, from school tutoring and children’s sports to cafés and restaurants. I’ve learned to work hard, adapt quickly and that I really enjoy being around people.
Outside of my studies I like to stay active and spend time with friends and family. Running, hiking and team sports are all important to me, mostly because I like the way sports bring people together.
Travel has also been a big part of my life. I’ve seen parts of Europe and Southeast Asia, and meeting people along the way has given me new perspectives that I want to explore further. One of the experiences that shaped me the most was when I moved to Paris on short notice. I went around looking for work and eventually found a job in a bar in the 11th arrondissement. I had some experience, but I learned a lot on the spot. It was tough at times but I grew a lot from it, especially in confidence and in being able to handle new situations.
Now I want to take another gap year abroad, this time to try something completely different. A big inspiration for me is my uncle, who has worked with educational projects in Uganda as a pediatrician. Hearing about his work and the people he has met has made a big impression on me. What inspires me most is how he has been able to combine his profession with doing something meaningful for others, while also learning and growing himself. That’s something I would like to try further on and I see this autumn as an opportunity to have an instep into something similar.
Improving my French is also one of my goals, since I really like French culture and see the language as a way to experience it more deeply. With my background of working with children and in teams, I hope to find the right place where I can contribute, learn new things and grow as a person.

More details about your skills
I have experience working with volunteering in private tutoring as well as coaching children's sports. I enjoy teaching and seeing people around me grow and I am sure that this, alongside a fluent level of English and intermediate French, could be a great asset.
I have also worked multiple years in hospitality in Sweden as well as in France. Roles have ranged from kitchen staff to serving and bartending. This experience has provided stress resilience as well as a habit of keeping stations and rooms tidy all while being on time and disciplined in your work.
Above all I take pride in doing my upmost in anything I take on and I have always been a cooperative hard worker in any team I have been a part of.
