Hello! I'm Firdaus, a 25 year-old fresh graduate from Singapore. Before I start working full-time, I want to travel, meet interesting folk, and explore different ways of living. To that end, I plan to do a working holiday in Australia for a year. Whilst in Australia, I hope to try my hand at different jobs, especially ones I won't get to experience back home.

In my free time, I enjoy trivia, dancing tango and playing board games. I also love to spend time outdoors, either hiking in national parks or swimming at the beach.

Teaching:
I was a part-time tutor for a couple of years before I started university. I taught IB Chemistry and Math to high school students, as well as English to primary school kids.

Gardening:
I have experience gardening at my college's community farm; the work included weeding, watering, planting, harvesting and pruning.

Housekeeping:
I've lived independently in student housing in Singapore, and in a shared house at New Haven. On both occasions, I've had to do a lot of cleaning myself so I am pretty decent at sweeping, mopping, vacuuming; the whole works.

Driving:
I got my driver's license in 2016. Since then I've gone for road trips in many different countries, including America, Turkiye, Indonesia, and Australia. I am very comfortable behind the wheel, and have experience driving larger vehicles, like SUVs and mini-vans too.

What else ...

In college, I majored in philosophy, with a focus on philosophy of mind and social ontology. What that means is that I've spent a lot of time thinking and writing about the nature of consciousness and social constructs, like race and class. In the last four years, I've tried my hand at different things; I've interned at a government think-tank, worked at a social service office, and did research for a philosophy book project.

I am an avid board games player. In college, I organised weekly board game sessions for the larger college community. Some of my favourite games include Splendor, Lost Ruins of Arnak and Cascadia.

Other hobbies/interests of mine include bouldering, dancing tango, crocheting (especially little cacti plants for friends, as gifts) and scuba diving (I've logged about 55 dives so far).
