  • Description

My name is Filippo, I’m 27 years old, and for the past four years I’ve chosen to leave behind a stable job and a repetitive lifestyle to start a journey without a fixed destination, but with a clear purpose: discovery.

Over the years I’ve lived in Australia and Southeast Asia, and I’m now traveling through South America, ready to explore a new part of the world. I travel to learn, to listen, and to challenge myself. I’m fascinated by different perspectives, even those that contrast with my own, because I believe truth has many sides.

I’m not interested in mass tourism or experiences built for social media. I look for real life — everyday life made of people, stories, and authentic habits. That’s why I love experiences like Workaway: they allow me to truly connect with locals, sharing time, ideas, and perspectives.

Traveling on a simple budget, I prefer to offer my help, knowledge, and practical skills in exchange for a place to stay and genuine human connection. I adapt easily and enjoy being useful, whether it’s manual work, small projects, or simply helping wherever needed.

I’m a curious and open-minded person, always eager to learn something new. I read a lot and like to explore different genres and topics without limits. Whenever I encounter something unfamiliar, I dive into it fully, knowing it might completely change my way of seeing things.

I often write about my experiences to share them with people who don’t have the opportunity to travel, bringing a piece of the world closer to them. I’ve published a book and I’m currently working on new writing projects.

I love music, from Italian classical to lively South American rhythms, especially when it comes to dancing. But more than anything, I value the connections I make along the way, because I believe that travel is ultimately about people.

Over time, I’ve lived experiences that I carry with me: riding horses at sunrise on Pacific Ocean beaches, flying over the Great Barrier Reef, sleeping in the forest and waking up surrounded by its sounds, contributing to small projects that helped families or communities.

I don’t see them as extraordinary achievements, but as moments that together have made every day unique.

And I continue to travel with the same spirit: curious, light, and with a smile.

  • More details about your skills

Over the years, I have developed a wide range of experiences, both technical and hands-on.

I worked for 5 years as a mechanical designer for industrial machinery and structures. At the same time, I gained experience in hospitality as a waiter in high-quality restaurants.

I worked in a racehorse training center, taking care of both property maintenance and animal care. I also worked as a desert tour guide, leading groups on quad bike excursions.

Throughout my journey, I have built strong practical skills: I have worked as a welder, carpenter, and in construction, including building roofs, working with concrete, installing drywall, painting, and tiling. I have built fences for livestock, worked in agriculture, and as a gardener maintaining various properties, including high-end ones.

I also have basic mechanical skills, having rebuilt my own motorcycle.

I grew up in the countryside, where I learned early how to adapt, be resourceful, and handle many different types of work, especially in environments with limited resources. I enjoy combining the skills I’ve learned to find practical solutions in any situation.

Alongside practical work, I also cultivate my creative side: I’ve published a book and I am currently working on new writing projects. I’ve attended theatre courses and worked as a model for art classes.
