  • Description

Hi everyone! Salut! Hallo! Dag! Hola! Ciao!

I'm Eugenia (but please call me Ginny) and I'm 29. My partner Dave and I left Italy on our 1980s campervan to explore and work in different countries in Europe.
Traveling and living on the road full time has been a huge dream of mine since I was 16, and I finally made it! Yay!

I discovered the Workaway platform when I was a newly-graduate at 23 and it literally changed my perspective on life and myself. I lived and worked in a hostel in the south of the Netherlands, where I got to meet the most rad people and share challenges, experiences, hard times, thoughts, opinions, laughs and a lot of hugs. At the hostel, my tasks were mainly breakfast and bar shifts, along with reception, housekeeping and a bit of maintenance and gardening.

Since 2018 much life happened and I got to live in France, the opposite pole of the Netherlands (for my master's degree in writing and editing), Rome, Florence and Bologna. I have worked as a proofreader in a small publishing house, in supermarkets, in a language school, as an interior designer, as a receptionist in a hostel, and as a travel planner. I also volunteered in all the cities I have lived in, mainly for people with disabilities, elders and migrants. Especially in the last year I got closer to politics, and I have engaged in social activism, right-to-housing movements, ecological and LGBTQ battles. For me it is fundamental to play our part and always do better in a world that leaves us struggling, alone and disunited.

I have been studying English and French for more than ten years, and I also speak a bit of Dutch. I would loooove to improve my basic Spanish and learn Portuguese. I am a freak for new languages, literatures and cultures. I write poetry in Italian and English, but the thing I love the most about the creative process of putting words together is sharing them. That’s why my poetry started out on hidden scraps of paper and ended up becoming mainly the performative kind. I am a social butterfly but I also really need some alone time every once in a while to read, write, do meditation and yoga (I’m not good at it, but I take it as a way to decompress all my worries). I love being around human beings (adults and kids) but I also really enjoy the company of animals, especially dogs, cows and horses.

I love electronic music and the feeling of freedom and lightness that comes from tekno/techno nights. You can usually find me dancing there covered in glitter :)

I’m a hard-working person and I’m willing to challenge myself, to acquire new skills by following more experienced people, and to test myself at something I’ve never done before. I utterly love traveling, wandering, trekking, being in nature and exploring but what I love the most is learning new things, hearing stories and getting to know people with whom I can establish long-lasting relationships and friendships. I like to hang out with my friends, go to concerts, roam through vintage markets and have existential conversations with random strangers. I consider myself an open-minded, cheerful, curious and reliable person, who always tries to see the bright side of every situation and the good in the bad. I'm a firm believer in the "positive vibrations" way of life.

One of my mottos is: it doesn’t matter if I can’t do something, I would love to try, make mistakes while doing it, and finally learn. I can say that change has been the only constant in my life, and when I stay too long in a place my feet start to get itchy again.

Now it’s definitely the perfect time for me and my companion to set out to new adventures and destinations, near and far. We are ready, and you? :)

UPDATES ON OUR CAMPERVAN TRIP - WHERE WE HAVE BEEN / WHAT WE HAVE DONE SO FAR:

    - Helped turn an old farm house into a social hub in Germany (carpentry works, painting walls, moving furniture, gardening, cleaning, cooking and babysitting).

    - Worked with hot-air sky balloons in the Netherlands (preparing the equipment, welcoming passengers, building and disassembling the balloon before and after the flight, helping the pilot with the takeoff and the landing, following the balloon along the road with a minivan and bringing back the passengers at the end).

    - Helped at a folk festival in Alsace, France with cooking (Dave), bartending and cafeteria (Ginny), cleaning, organizing and welcoming guests, as well as singing, jamming and dancing :)

We are now looking for an experience in Spain, HIT US UP!
