I am Ethan, an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher in the United States. I love teaching and learning from other people, and I have not traveled nearly as much as I would like! So, that’s what I’m here to do- learn and get to know new people and new experiences in other places. As a teacher, it’s a pretty big part of my life, and helping others is important to the way I live. As far as hobbies go, I’m a reader and casual gamer who likes art and stories. I mostly teach Spanish-speakers, so that’s the language I want practice with, but I’m open to seeing everywhere and anywhere.

I love languages, I teach English as a profession, I studied Mandarin Chinese in college, I have an intermediate level of Spanish and Spanish linguistics, and I love learning languages in general! My spouse also teaches English as a profession, and speaks Japanese fluently as well, but only has a beginner’s knowledge of Spanish.

Both Leah and I are ESL (English as a Second Language) teachers by profession, so we have a decent knack for languages and teaching English! I have been teaching K-5 (ages 5-11 in the US) ESL for four years (and I was the oldest child) so I am very accustomed to working and communicating with kids. Leah and I both have good cooking and cleaning skills, and Leah is an especially good cook and baker. I am an intermediate Spanish speaker, I can have basic conversations and most of my vocab skillset is school-based, obviously. Otherwise, I am open-minded and a quick learner!

What else ...

Beyond the basics I mentioned, we both love playing board games (even the complicated niche ones). I love talking about books, movies, and art in general. Leah played college golf, and even won conference for her university in 2023.
