hello! my name is elizabeth, and have spent the past four years studying environmental studies and history in Los Angeles. after receiving my bachelor's degree, I began working in the urban planning sector, designing transportation networks and advocating for congestion management policies. however, i find i am at my happiest and most fulfilled working outdoors and making connections with new people in unexpected places! i enjoy and have experience with gardening and sustainability projects, and I hope to deepen my skillset in these areas. additionally, I would love to experiment with new arts such as wine and olive oil making! overall, i hope to find experiences that allow me to work outdoors with my hands, while also engaging my creative and artistic side :) i have lots of experience traveling abroad, but due to the COVID pandemic, I was unable to study abroad my junior year. through workaway, i would love the opportunity to learn about and experience new cultures, forge relationships with new people and move beyond my comfort zone. i am a hard worker, open-minded, curious, passionate, and happy to take on any tasks that come my way!

I have experience developing and maintaining a community garden, with specific projects such as constructing a native plant and medicinal garden, and bioremediating areas for future plant growth. I love working with my hands and building spaces outdoors that support sustainability and invite people to have a relationship with the earth. During my undergraduate career, I regularly volunteered with conservation groups, removing plastics and invasive species from local waterways, and assisted in environmental justice educational curriculums at a local elementary school. I have also worked in food service and retail, and have expanded my customer service skills over the years. I believe I am well equipped to engage with people outside my community, and forge positive relationships with others. I also regularly practice yoga and meditation, and love working with ceramics. I also have developed skills in data analysis, GIS and research through various internships and my current role as an urban transportation planner.
