Hello, I'm Eleni, a 25 year old woman, born in Cambridge in the UK. I've spent the last 6 years training and freelancing as a dancer, dance teacher, university lecturer, care assistant and hospitality worker in lovely Leeds, Yorkshire, UK. I love change and feel that it is the perfect time for me to take the leap and move abroad!

So, I have obtained an IEC to come and work and travel in Canada in 2026. I am really most excited to learn more of the French language, having studied it for many years and as part of the International Bacalaureate Diploma Programme, so I am looking for places to stay upon my arrival in Quebec. I would love to stay with a French speaking family to improve the flow of my speaking and to feel fully immersed in another language.

I am very friendly and spending time with new people keeps me energised and curious about the lifestyle options we have. My work has a dancer and teacher brings me into contact with lots of different communities and I enjoy working out new roles within them.

At home, I like to spend my time cooking with fresh vegetables from our local farm, reading, chatting with my friends and housemate and playing with my cat, Eve. I am quite adventurous and love to explore what towns and cities have to offer so I spend a lot of my time out of the house - but let's see how I go in the cold!

I have had many jobs and responsibilities over the last few years and find myself adapting easily into different rhythms and ways of working with others so I am hoping to find a great language and culture exchange for my contributions.

I love the English language and have been working recently with a lot of International students has given me some practice in teaching English but mostly I would like to learn French through immersion! I learn fast and am excited to be in contexts where I can't slip back into English speaking easily.

I have experience working with people of all ages - teaching dance to tiny people, as well as working with the elderly in a dementia specialised care home.

I have a Permaculture Design Certificate from Findhorn Ecovillage which has given me some basic knowledge but there is still lots I'd like to learn about sustainable living.

Growing up, I have taken care of a variety of animals including dogs, cats, guinea pigs, chicken's and donkeys. I also did some work experience on a goat farm.

A few years ago I went on regular camping/hiking self-sustainable trips as part of the Duke of Edinburgh's award which has given me some basic knowledge and resilience about outdoor living, but again I know that I have a lot to learn about off-grid lifestyles.
