Description

Hello! My name is Dawn, I am a final year vet student from the UK. I'm currently juggling my passion for travelling with working towards a career in veterinary medicine.
I am excited to get involved in having a more authentic travel experience and learning about the local lifestyle through Workaway! I recently completed my first Workaway experience in Sri Lanka where I was volunteering at a hostel- I absolutely loved it! I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life, and I found that working at the front desk was an amazing way to connect with people. I really loved being a welcoming and friendly face for guests. Throughout my veterinary training I also did a lot of animal-related volunteering both in the UK and abroad, and I hope to do more volunteering as a qualified vet in the future!

Growing up by the Peak District I have always had a keen interest anything outdoorsy, and I try and do a long distance hiking and camping trip every year. I also climb (mainly bouldering), which the Peak District is great for! I learnt to surf in Sri Lanka, and I hope to continue this hobby (ideally in a warmer country than the UK!).

Through my degree I have experience communicating with people from all walks of life, and I love making new friends! I'm quick-witted, can think on my feet, and pick up things quickly so I'm sure to settle in well wherever I go. I love organising events and my friends know that when I get an idea, I'm stubborn enough to make it happen no matter how much of a logistical nightmare it might be!
