Description
Hi, my name is Rina. I’m originally from Ukraine, but I’ve been living in Germany for the past four years, where I am currently studying East Asian Studies at Freie Universität Berlin.
Ever since my first trip abroad, I’ve been curious to understand what life in other countries really feels like for the people who live there. What traditions and social problems shape it, and what makes each culture so unique and sometimes difficult for outsiders to fully understand.
That curiosity is the reason I chose my major, and why I try to travel as much as possible during my vacations. I feel that traveling and meeting new people truly fulfills me, broadens my horizons, and helps me become a better version of myself.
That’s also why I joined Workaway, to combine something I love with the opportunity to be helpful at the same time. -

More details about your skills
I enjoy communicating with people and believe that every person, and even the smallest conversation, can teach you something new. I am a quick learner, very patient, and reliable.
I speak Ukrainian, German, and English fluently, and I have a beginner level of Japanese. I also handle stressful situations well and stay calm under pressure. -

What else ...
I’ve been interested in Asian cultures ever since we first read haiku in literature class at my school in Ukraine. I couldn’t understand why it felt so touching and beautiful, even though the Ukrainian translation made little sense and was so different from everything we had studied before. From that moment on, I fell down a rabbit hole of exploring and trying to understand what had drawn me in back then.
I currently work as a barista and love making coffee and chatting with customers. I also have a genuine interest in tea and tea ceremony and enjoy learning more about them.
I have been a bookworm since childhood and will never miss a chance to talk about books. -
