Description
Hello everybody! My name is Daisy, I’m currently living in Bristol, UK. I am originally from Birkenhead, a seaside town close to Liverpool. I also grew up in Wales close to the Brecon Beacons, and lived for three years in Madrid. I have a C1 level of Spanish, and would love to start learning Portuguese.
I am an open person who looks to create connections and make networks. At the moment, I am looking to become reinspired, meet new people, and be outside after 4 looong years of university. Although I loved studying, far too much of my time was spent on the computer!
I recently graduated from uni of Bristol studying BSc Geography (human). My degree focused on health, inequality, disaster risk reduction/mitigation processes, and sustainability. My dissertation investigated localised approaches to the alleviation of UK-based food poverty through holistic community development focused on bottom-up growth and connection making. My reason for studying this degree was to become part of social change and help others - basically to be part of the ‘big rethink’ of how our world works. I would like to eventually work in social research and write social policy, with a focus on the health and development of children. I am also passionate about ecological restoration, permaculture, and holistic management approaches to agriculture. This is a big reason for me being here: I would love to become inspired in real life through the projects that are on Workaway!
I love to be social and meet new people. I grew up in a family that encouraged me to explore my spiritual beliefs and I enjoy being around like minded people. While I wouldn’t pin myself to one religion or particular spiritual path, I am open to and respect all religions and peoples’ faith. I enjoy experimenting with my cooking and love the social connections and the power that food brings. I particularly love to bake! Although I eat everything, I am happy to eat vegan and vegetarian based diets and enjoy the diversity of cooking with solely plant-based products. I love learning about new cultures through food and tasting new flavours. To me, the value of food goes far beyond its nutritional value and serves as an important social and cultural glue.
One of my greatest passions is exercise - anything that gets the body moving! Be it dancing, yoga, pilates, HIIT, hiking, swimming, climbing or cycling, I just want to be active. I really enjoy kayaking and canoeing and love to be in the water. I have practiced Hatha yoga for the past 9 years and love to practice with other people and continue learning. Now I actually have time after uni, I have started to learn about Hatha sequencing and would one day love to do yoga teacher training (less to become a yoga teacher, more for the experience and growth of practice). I would love to meet people and learn more from them in terms of exercise, dancing, yoga, and general adventuring. I also enjoy reading - my non fiction picks are usually geared towards social science, sustainability, education, and permaculture, whereas for fiction I am needing some inspiration but I do love science fiction and fantasy. I wouldn’t say I’m a particularly artistic person but I would love to tap into this side of myself.

More details about your skills
I’m a clean person and I am not afraid of a challenge or a really deep clean. I owe this to years of living in house shares! I’m also a good cook, and know my way around a kitchen.
I have years of experience in hospitality, and can be of use as front of house or customer service. I have experience teaching English as a foreign language and can help with language skills. Additionally, I hold a C1 level of Spanish (and a 7 year relationship with my Spanish boyfriend) and can help with grammar, writing, and conversation. Most of my work experience is centred around the care of children. I au paired for a year and a half in Madrid when I was 19, after that I continued working in spanish schools and tutoring English as a foreign language with ages ranging from 6-16. Currently, I am working as a nursery nurse through an agency. I absolutely LOVE working with children - the fun, boundless energy and creativity of our young minds is something that I think all adults should take note of. I’m the eldest of four children with a big extended family so I am very used to busy environments. While I don’t have any formal experience in gardening or construction - I am good at transforming a space and following instructions. I have experience cobbing, constructing outdoor showers and kitchen, tending to the vegetable garden. I am pretty good with computers. I know how to navigate the internet well and can be of use in any marketing strategies, or advertising through social media. I’m competent enough to resolve minor technical issues and can format computers, reinstall drivers, and applications. I have a background in data science and statistics from my degree, which can be useful in application to business or research.Age
