  • Description

Hey there! I’m Connaire and I look forward to bringing happiness and hard-work to your Workaway hosting. I first started solo-travelling three years ago at the age of 19, going to Canada, Thailand, Myanmar and around Europe.

I've just finished a BA architecture degree at Newcastle University (gaining a 2:1) and have worked as a babysitter, paperboy, in retail, a waiter for Wetherspoons, a labourer renovating a house and in a kebab shop. I also run my own business selling clothing, art prints and other accessories (@goosbey). Through these avenues I’ve gained lots of experience and numerous skills that I can apply to your Workaway hosting!

For my Gold DofE, I volunteered for Oxfam and was a young leader for scouts. I also volunteered in Cambodia in 2018 with Camps International, helping to build wells and toilets for local communities. These ventures have helped build my confidence and independence and moulded me to become a open-minded & sociable individual :)

  • More details about your skills

For just over a year I spent 2 hours a week as a young leader to a scout troop (10/14 year olds). I found this a really valuable experience and coupled with my experience of babysitting family friends’ children, its given me the skills needed when looking after young children and helping them to learn.

Since late senior school I have worked and volunteered in various fields (as listed above). These roles have helped me gain a lot of knowledge regarding a working environment: for instance my position in the kebab shop consisted of doing a little bit of everything, from making pizzas to taking orders by the phone to giving the shop a deep clean in the early hours of the morning. My work ethic is very strong and I really enjoy human interaction and teamwork that my jobs have entailed.

Furthermore, I studied Graphics, Sociology and Photography at sixth form and won the creativity award for my year. These subjects have helped cultivate my artistry, which can be seen by my @goosbey project, and led me to develop a great imagination which I can hopefully bring to your workaway!
