Hola!

We’re Charles and Gioia, a French-Spanish and Irish-Italian duo. Our backgrounds basically ensure that there is always a flurry of languages, cultures and opinions going on, accompanied by a serious appreciation for good food, good music and great company!

We’re currently travelling around South America together, which honestly feels like the perfect excuse to collect stories, meet new people, and get lost in places we had never even heard of a few months ago. We both left our jobs in Barcelona, myself as a Project Manager and Gioia as a Partnership Manager, because we got tired of just dreaming and talking about travelling and decided it was time to actually do it.

I grew up in Barcelona, with French & Spanish roots, while Gioia grew up between Ireland and Italy, so we’re both very used to moving around, adapting fast, and feeling at home in new places. Between the two of us, we’ve got a pretty decent talent for making ourselves comfortable wherever we land, even if we still need a minute to figure out where the light switches are 😂

What we love about travel is that it shakes you out of routine. It gives you random, unforgettable moments, new perspectives and means of understanding, and the kind of memories that actually stick. That’s what we’re after on this trip: not just seeing places, but really being present and living in the moment.

We are brand new to Workaway but are beyond excited at the thought of the new adventures that await us ❤️

We’re practical, quick to learn, and happy to get stuck in wherever we’re needed. We’re not pretending to be experts at everything, but we are always up for a new challenge and we usually pick things up fast once we’ve seen how things work.
Between the two of us, we can help with general house tasks, cleaning, organising, packing, moving things around, and keeping spaces tidy. Gioia has experience teaching languages to and looking after children, and both of us have worked in hospitality, including cafes, restaurants, and shops, so we’re used to being around people, keeping things moving, and staying calm when things get busy.
Charles is more than happy to help with odd jobs, construction work, and anything that needs a bit of muscle 💪We’re both fit and active, so manual labour is absolutely fine for us.
Gioia loves cooking, and Charles is not exactly a chef, but he is a mean dish cleaner and very happy to be the one keeping the kitchen under control after the meal! Between the two of us, we’re always happy to help in the kitchen and make ourselves useful wherever needed.
We also love animals, so any chance to help with them would make us very happy😍
We bring good energy, work well as a team, and adapt easily to new environments.
