Hello everyone,
My name is Camille, and I’ve been living in Belgium, my adopted country, for the past nine years. Passionate about travel, animals, and discovering new cultures, I’ve always dreamed of traveling differently — by giving my time and energy to organizations or individuals who need it. That’s why Workaway felt like a perfect match!
A bit about me: After eight years as a project manager in the engineering sector, I decided to take a bold step in 2024 and change careers to become a veterinary assistant — a big life shift! I realized I was missing a sense of purpose in my work, and my love for animals had been calling me for years. While waiting to start my studies in September 2025, I thought, why not travel and, at the same time, contribute to an animal welfare organization? That’s how I found myself here, writing this introduction (haha).
In addition to my professional transition, I’ve taken courses in animal care and first aid and am an active volunteer at an animal shelter, experiences that I hope will be valuable for any organization I join.
Right now, I’m particularly drawn to Egypt. I traveled there with my family when I was 10, sailing along the Nile and visiting Cairo — it was a magical experience. I’d love to return 20 years later, this time with fresh eyes as an adult, to connect more deeply with the culture that continues to fascinate me. And as a scuba diver, I think Egypt offers the perfect blend of discovery — both above and below the water!
