  • Description

Hi, my name is Brynne and I am writing on behalf of Joseph and I. We are a happily married couple that live among the mountains in north Idaho, where Joseph is from. I am originally from Minnesota, but am happy to call Idaho home. We are looking to explore the world and expand our horizons before we get too old… haha. (We’re not that old.)

We are a hard working couple with lots of practical skills and common sense. We also love to laugh and like to think we have a good sense of humor.

Joseph is a flooring installer by trade, but practices woodworking in our garage by night. He also enjoys tinkering with his Ford 1980s diesel pickup and would like to learn more about mechanics. Joseph is sportsman who hunts and fishes with the seasons. Every fall, we collect firewood for his mom. We both like to downhill ski at our backyard ski resort.

I am a forester by trade, and I specialize in “silviculture”, meaning the art and science of growing trees. I generally focus on forests when they are 0-20 years old, or in the early phase of their development. This line of work brings me out into the woods and supports my active lifestyle. When I’m not working, I enjoy tending to my indoor plants, cooking dinners, reading, or socializing with family or friends. Although we don’t have animals now, we can’t wait until we’re at a place in our life for dogs and possibly farm animals.

    • Skill Summary •
Joseph: hunting/fishing, construction (framing, roofing, flooring, carpentry), thousands of “soft skills” that come with being a mountain man
Brynne skills: navigating the wilderness, plant ID/ecological knowledge, people person, traditional “homemaker” skills like cooking, baking, or cleaning.
Shared skills: very comfortable in outdoor environments, hiking, using chainsaws, good with animals, good with kids, and easy going.

We’re ultimately looking to contribute to a Workaway community that we believe in. We hope to learn more about your culture, exchange stories, try different foods, learn more skills, and make valuable memories!

In the past, I have been a workaway volunteer in France, Italy, Croatia, Malaysia, Thailand and Morocco. I've enjoyed picking up permaculture principles along the way.

Please contact me with any questions. I am very excited to work with you and meet you :)

  • More details about your skills

I am very comfortable with customer service, having years of experience in the food industry specifically. Cooking hardy and healthy meals is an activity I find myself doing often. Basic power tool usage, beginner construction skills, and 12v electrical/solar know-how are something I've put into practice with the van conversion project.

Other than that, I enjoy picking up new skills and after a day of learning something new I will have it down!
