  • Description

Hello! A little bit about me...

I'm a kind, active, and easygoing person from Canada with a big passion for sports and experiencing new things. I recently graduated university with a degree in Exercise Science and Physics, and I’m taking a year off before applying to my masters to travel, meet new people, and contribute wherever I can. I am open to many opportunities such as helping on a farm or getting involved in a community project. Above all, I value kindness and helping others.

I have a strong background in working with children and staying active through hands on roles. I’ve spent nearly a decade teaching karate, leading youth rock climbing programs, and working at summer camps with kids aged 6 to 16. I also ran my own summer landscaping business for the past two years, which involved lots of physical outdoor work, managing a small team of employees, and interacting with clients. These experiences have taught me responsibility, adaptability, and how to connect with people from all walks of life.

Staying active is my biggest passion in life. I love karate, golf, rock climbing, cycling, playing team sports like soccer and basketball, and even just going on long walks with my dog. I also enjoy the quieter things such as playing guitar, chess, board games, and learning new skills. I spent 6 months during a semester abroad in Australia, and living there really sparked my love for stepping into new places and ways of life. I even got the chance to play guitar live at a local pub on Anzac Day, their national holiday.

I’m excited to be part of the Workaway community, and I’m open to a range of opportunities. I bring a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a genuine interest in learning from others wherever I go.

I bring a wide range of skills and hands on experience that I’m excited to share!

I’ve spent several years working with children and youth as a volunteer karate instructor and rock climbing coach, where I taught kids aged 6 to 16 in both recreational and camp settings. These roles required patience, clear communication, and leadership, skills I’ve built over nearly a decade of teaching.

I’ve also worked in community focused environments such as the Western University Recreation Center for three years while completing my studies. I supported members daily with customer service, problem solving, and safety awareness. I am set to graduate from the University of Western Ontario this term with a major in Kinesiology and minor in Physics. I'm comfortable transitioning into new environments and adapting quickly, as I experienced during my exchange semester in Australia. While there, I even performed live music on Anzac Day at a local pub for an audience of over 100 people.

In addition to working with people, I have practical experience in manual and outdoor work. I started and managed a summer landscaping business, where I led a small team doing exterior maintenance like power washing, joint repair, and yard work. I handled scheduling, marketing, and equipment. I’m comfortable with physical labor, working outdoors, and staying organized under pressure. Whether it’s gardening, cleaning, general maintenance, or helping out on a farm, I’m ready to contribute wherever needed.

I also have a strong technical and creative side. I’m CPR-C & AED certified, hold an Open Water Scuba Licence, and am always eager to learn new skills. I’ve used programs like AutoCAD for design projects, and I’m familiar with tools like Python, MATLAB, and Photoshop. From helping with kids, fixing things around the house, and joining community projects, I take pride in being responsible, adaptable, and a quick learner. I love working in team settings, and I bring a positive, can do attitude to every opportunity.

  • What else ...

Sports have always been my biggest passion, and they’ve shaped how I connect with others and stay active every day. I enjoy a mix of sports including outdoor rock climbing, cycling, basketball, and soccer —anything that keeps me active and outside. I'm taking a year off school to work and travel before applying to teachers college, where I hope to turn my love for teaching and working with kids into a lifelong career. In my free time, I enjoy playing guitar, going for long walks with my dog, and spending quality time with friends and family. I also love any and all games, especially chess, card games like euchre, and board games like settlers of catan. I’m someone who truly enjoys building real connections, sharing laughs, and learning from the people around me.
