Hola soy Benjamin, soy mitad estadounidense mitad chileno, acabo de licenciarme en lingüística en una unversidad canadiense. Estaba viajando en el sur de Chile y ahora quiero viajar por Argentina.
Quiero perfeccionar mi español y conocer el mundo artistico de Buenos Aires.

He trabajado en ventas asi que podria ayudar en algo comunicandome con gente, tambien he trabajado en un entorno francofono y he estudiado italiano. De todos modos estoy dispuesto a trabajar en lo que sea.

He trabajado en ventas en un entorno francofono / internacional en Montreal. He trabajado en una escuela basica y en un negocio en linea en New York. Tambien he trabajado en limpieza y como tutor de idiomas y de cajero en un supermercado. Hablo ingles, español, frances y un poco de italiano. Me gusta hablar con la gente.

Tambien trabajos manuales me interesan, aunque no tenga tanta experiencia. He hecho un huerto con amigos y he trabajado en mudanzas.

Carol, Angelo, the family, the community, Piedade- all together- this community offers a very warm and welcoming environment.
As someone who enjoys language exchange, but has nearly always been on the receiving end of language immersion experiences, I was able to enjoy the process of creating an immersive experience for the local students. Of… read more course, you live in Piedade, and there are many opportunities to practice Portuguese and listen to local people and their jeito. But in particular, I feel like this experience allowed me to develop as a communicator and a teacher which I really appreciate. To me, it is a delight to try and try again to explain grammar, and the educational environment was very helpful to me as a new teacher and I thoroughly enjoyed working on that part of myself. The creativity that you are allowed as a language teacher is also very enjoyable, along side the reliable teaching strategies they have practiced with success for more than 20 years.

The school environment will be your touch point socially. The other teachers create a light and calm environment. The students are of all ages from around 6- 60.
All ages of students obviously have their charms, I particularly enjoy teaching grammar so the older students were my favorites. The youngest students are funny and have lots of heart and the older one-on-one students make for good conversation partners which can lead to connections outside the school environment.

The living situation was extremely comfortable. I cannot stress this enough. I enjoyed reading and writing from the desk next to the window which overlooks the beautiful views (the apartment is in basically the tallest point of the town, so the view is incredible at all times of day, but maybe particular at sunrise or sunset). The kitchen, the washing machine, the furniture, everything is set up for an extremely comfortable stay.

There is also the club which is included which offers a nice opportunity to learn Jiu jitsu, use the "Academia", swim, walk around, play volleyball, footvolley, and many more things.

Piedade also has different events, during Carnaval there was a nice musical gathering. During my time there, there was also an old car show, an mma fight, and a travelling circus.
The daily charms of Piedade circle the main square in the center of town. There are a lot of little cafes and restaurants which offer an opportunity to meet and appreciate the local Piedadenses.
There is also a walking path alongside a canal that you can begin in the center of town. Along the water there are beautiful trees, and you will see flowers and banana trees and even these little wise faced monkeys. The birds in Piedade are diverse in color and a constant pleasant aspect of life there.

There are also many opportunities to explore nature near by. While some of these might require a car to go and visit, there is truly an impressive quantity of natural beauty in the area. There are many waterfalls, trails for hiking, animal sanctuaries. There is the park near by called Legado das Aguas and older communities living near there, one called Cabocla. These places and people and the connection with nature is spectacular. In Cabocla particularly, you will see tucans and hopefully an anta.
Other nearby activities include going to Sorocaba (which has a very cool zoo) and well, you will not be so far from Sao Paolo if you want an urban touch from time to time.

One thing I wish I had done more of in Piedade itself is spend time at the cultural center. What is called the library also does have cultural events. While the old cultural center is closed down, the people at the library are working on some new things that I wish I had engaged with earlier on in my stay there.

Overall, Carol and the community are very welcoming people who will be very attentive to your needs and they care about you having a good time there.
For workawayers looking to teach English in calm environment and connect with people from a different culture, this program would be an excellent fit.

It was really great to be at the olivar. I had never worked in this type of environment and Gustavo was a great teacher. Its a good project that I feel proud to have helped a bit. The place is beautiful, the philosophy and project are top.
