Description
I am a 36 year old male from the United States traveling through Argentina for the first time. I hope to gain a greater connection with the land and the people by volunteering. I have a desire to learn practical skills such as farming/gardening, different types of construction, carpentry, masonry and cooking. I am also interested in learning about the production of things such as things such as yogurt, cheese, wine, kombucha and other artesenal products. I am a native English speaker. I have been speaking Spanish for about ten years. This is my third long backpacking trip through Latin America and I previously lived in Spain for two years. I would consider my Spanish level high-intermediate, but I feel that it will advance quickly during this trip.

I have most recently taught science in secondary schools and have taught English as a foreign language to children and adults. In the past, I had some experience working as a surveyor and designer for a solar panel company. I also worked for the National Park Service and helped them to update their trails database with photos, trail descriptions and maps.

I had a wonderful two weeks volunteering at Rosie’s place. I really enjoyed our conversations over lunch. Rosie has so many interesting stories to tell and a wealth of information to share. She also makes the tastiest jams from fruits grown right on the chacra. Rosie is just as sweet as her homemade jams!

Stephen stayed for two weeks and was really helpful with stacking a lot of firewood, clearing an area where logs had been sawn, collecting up hay and a host of other little jobs. He is a pleasant person to have around, communicative, and he always did the jobs well.
