  • Description

    Hello!

My name is Hristo, I'm coming from the small country of Bulgaria, located in Eastern Europe and I’ve finished my Bachelor degree of Physical Therapy back in my country, in the National Sports Academy in 2019.

    but enough with the formality..

I have always been the little positive kid that is starving for something new in his life, the kid that will rather die than stay on the same place for more than a couple of years.
I would even say, the active kid that has always loved playing sports. It does not matter what the sport is or what the weather is, if someone is calling for playing, I was the first one responding with “I am in”

My two consecutive summers with the Work and Travel program in the United States in 2017 and 2018 were probably the periods that helped me to grow the most in my life. Travelling in different places all around America with a tent on your back and a bunch of friends on the backseat, meeting new people, dealing with the struggle of living with 10 more people in a house and searching for work all around the city or town you live in, especially when nobody of your relatives is around, gives you a whole new level of experience. This opportunity thought me that travelling can be not only hitting new destinations for fun, but also a chance to learn a lot more about yourself away from home, understanding other people’s way of life, see someone’s different way of thinking and learn to understand and respect it.

After I graduated from university, I decided that I need something new in my life, a whole new experience. And I found it! One World Institute in Norway (check these guys out!) has given me the opportunity to study, volunteer in a project in Africa or India and travel.

After I finished my whole period in Norway, I headed towards Zanzibar, Tanzania, to take part in the projects of a couple organizations there (PDS Zanzibar as a main one, and doing some side projects with Youth Light Organization and Wake Up Zanzibar). Generally, I decided to stay into the field I know well - health care and sports. I was a football coach for the academy team of PDS and also creating a whole new Nutrition project for the organization. Apart from that, I was helping around with English classes, cleaning campaigns around the island, field trips with children and so on.
I would say that even though it was just for 4 months, we managed to achieve many great things together with the local people.

But even with all my travels around the world, and living on 3 different continents in the past couple of years, I would say that I still keep my childish curiosity inside. And, as every kid, I have my dream as well. Apart from experiencing the life in Africa, visiting and living in Australia has always been one of my biggest travelling dreams. There is something ‘bout this country, that intrigues me so much and that makes me want to experience it. Sometimes you just have the feeling that a particular place is just made for you..

But, still, I see Australia far in the future, and for now I decide to enjoy the process and experience other countries and cultures beforehand.

For now, I am back home, working and living in Sofia, but who knows what the future holds...
