Description
Hi! I’m Ashleigh, a 21-year-old from Sydney, Australia.
I’d describe myself as a curious, grounded, and spirited young woman who’s always chasing the next opportunity to learn something new - whether that’s through books, people, or places.
I’ve been lucky to see a bit of the world already: I lived in London for three years as a child and have travelled through much of Western Europe with my family. Those experiences sparked an early love for exploring different cultures, perspectives, and ways of life.
Growing up, I threw myself into just about every sport I could - soccer, tennis, water polo, squash, swimming, skiing, even dirt biking - and I still find so much joy in being active, spending time outdoors, and connecting with nature, especially on long trail walks. I wouldn’t call myself a full-blown adrenaline junkie, but I’ll almost always say yes to trying something new.
I’ve just completed a Bachelor of Business with a major in finance and economics, and I’m lucky enough to have a long stretch of time before starting my full-time role at an Investment Bank in early 2026. I want to make the most of this window by doing something meaningful, human, and expansive - which is why stumbling across Workaway felt so serendipitous.
I’m new to the platform, but I’m genuinely excited by the chance to contribute, connect, and immerse myself in places that might otherwise remain unfamiliar. I bring positive energy, reliability, and a strong willingness to pitch in wherever I’m needed - whether that’s helping on a project, looking after children or teens, working outdoors or with animals, cooking, or running general errands.
Above all, I hope to leave the people and places I meet a little better, brighter, or lighter than I found them - while learning as much as I can about lives I may never otherwise get to experience, and maybe making some lifelong connections along the way. -

More details about your skills
I’m a quick learner, an enthusiastic worker, and someone who genuinely enjoys pitching in wherever help is needed. Whether it's physical, social, or task-oriented, I bring energy, resilience, and a sense of humour to every job - and I don’t give up easily.
I’ve worked extensively in hospitality, from waitressing and bartending to supervising large-scale events like weddings and conferences. I’m confident in guest-facing roles, comfortable under pressure, and always happy to take initiative - whether it’s anticipating needs or keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.
I’m also a very active, outdoorsy person with a strong appreciation for animals and the natural world. While I’ve grown up in the city, my mum’s side of the family were all endurance riders, and I have beginner level experience riding my grandparents’ horses until I was around 16. I’ve always had a deep admiration for horses and would love the chance to be around them more - whether that’s caring for them, helping with day-to-day routines, or learning from those more experienced.
I’m also great with children and teenagers - responsible, warm, and always happy to engage with young people in a positive and proactive way.
Above all, I’m adaptable, open-minded, and ready to get stuck into anything - whether that’s hands-on work around a farm, supporting guests at a lodge, or lending a hand wherever needed. -
